A senior British officer suggested releasing many of the prisoners detained by the coalition, but saw his suggestion shot down by American commanders, according to a US magazine.
And the British military was said to be increasingly upset at the willingness of US troops to “kill, kill and kill again”, according to a former British officer.

According to Brigadier General Janis Karpinski, the general formerly in charge of the notorious Abu Ghraib prison, where abuse took place, a British officer present said: “The best solution is to find a way to release these people instead of building more and more detention facilities.”
