Gore rips Bush on Iraq, economy (CNN)
Former Vice President Al Gore on Thursday lambasted the Bush administration for its handling of the war in Iraq, the economy and the environment, accusing the president of giving short shrift to "basic honesty."

In a scathing speech delivered at New York University, Gore listed what he called numerous false impressions the American public had about Iraq in advance of the war and about the president's tax cuts before they were enacted.

"Here is the pattern that I see: The president's mishandling of and selective use of the best evidence available on the threat posed by Iraq is pretty much the same as the way he intentionally distorted the best available evidence on climate change and rejected the best available evidence on the threat posed to America's economy by his tax and budget proposals," Gore said.

2. Gore
I just saw him on C-Span. WOW. Best speech he has ever made. I am so proud of him. Says he is not running. Our REAl president would never have let us wander in the wasteland.

3. These are good lines

"I believe we must stand for a future in which the United States will again be feared only by our enemies,"

Gore said there was a time when he blamed Bush's advisers for the problems, but "obviously I was wrong. ... I've just about concluded that the real problem may be the president himself"

"a systematic effort to manipulate facts in service to a totalistic ideology that's felt to be more important than the mandates of basic honesty."

what I want to say.

but phrased better.

kudos.

And isn't it ironic that starting the day after the last election, Gore has been just about the best speaker in the country?

5. Better than SF speech
I just saw Gore's speech on C-Span. He said EVERYTHING that needed saying. It made me feel good. He repeated numerous times he is not running, but did say he will endorse one of the candidates. I suspect it will be Dean.

Regardless of what he does in the future, today's speech is one for the history books. WTG Al!!!!

6. Nothing here about Gore in Europe
Nothing on CNN international, nothing on French, Dutch, British or German news (so far, that will change).

Drudge isn't talking about it... who the fuck is? The fringe once again?

It makes me sick. And now with what little english programming I get here in Holland I have to watch Ann and Larry talk about liberal media bias?

I think I am going to sleep.

7. Dupe... locking
We're all very excited about President Gore's speech today, but in order to keep LBN neat and tidy, it's time to lock some of the duplicate threads on this topic.

8. Caint wait for th' Whitehouse boys to respond.
This oughtta be good.
I suspect that they have Dubya heavily medicated, and Cheney's battery is running low. Rummy has killed a pint already, and Rove is muttering and wringing his hands.
