US 'lost trust' - Saudi paper
Riyadh - A Saudi newspaper charged on Saturday that revelations of prisoner abuse by US soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan were showing the United States to be as bad as the al-Qaeda terror network says it is.

"The United States finds itself living up to its al-Qaeda billing as an evil and unjust state," the English-language Arab News said in its leader.

"Every new claim of mistreatment is now going to be believed, no matter what the Americans do to try to disprove it," the paper wrote.

3. Well actually, yes they can
They have pictures.
This is extremely bad for the US. This will not be going away anytime soon. Forget about foreign travel for the next 20 years or so.

4. here is the editorial
Living Up to the Billing

They may be suggesting that Rumsfeld needs to resign.

The United States finds itself living up to its Al-Qaeda billing as an evil and unjust state. Every new claim of mistreatment is now going to be believed, no matter what the Americans do to try to disprove it. They have lost what little trust the world still had in them, they have forfeited every claim they may have had to be bringing the rule of law to a lawless part of the world. Only a truly extraordinary gesture can even begin to restore them.(My emphasis.)

5. we might be able to solve this. if we put together a container to ship
over there, of people like ann coulter, rush limbaugh, etc... and let them figure out what to do with them. we have no use for them anymore. i'm certainly not advocating leaving them without air holes. i'm all for air holes. nice pre-packaged lunches and porta potties and flashlights and lots of reading material by bushco resignees and old episodes of saturday night live. keep 'em entertained on the way to their fate.

6. newspapers don`t print anything like this
unless they check with the "boss" first. the house of saud is getting pissed at bush-just think of the amount of money they are losing by sticking to the dollar when if they would have bought euro`s like saddam did, their investment in george is losing money..

7. Bush will pay
I wonder if he is beginning to realize the damage he has done to this country with his jingoistic action toward Muslim countries. It is clear that his brand of "freedom" does not sit well with the Muslim contingent. Americans will suffer mightly after Bush is kicked out in November, however, the man I tend to feel sorry for is Kerry, who will have to take the time to rebulid the image of the United States after this disasterous regime.

8. Isn't that like the kettle calling the pot black.
We certainly have a lot to be ashamed of regarding our treatment of the Iraqi people. It is ironic, however, that the Saudis are calling us on it. They treat their own citizens just as badly.
and don't even pretend that its wrong.
