YAQUBI, Afghanistan, May 15 (Reuters) - Dilawar's three brothers stand around his simple grave and pray in a dusty, windswept corner of eastern Afghanistan.

The 22-year-old taxi driver died in U.S. custody at the secretive detention centre at Bagram air base just north of Kabul, where he was held along with hundreds of others for suspected links to al Qaeda and the ousted Taliban regime.

Eighteen months on, the Americans have yet to explain what happened to Dilawar on December 10, 2002.

"He was a taxi driver. He was innocent," said Nabi Khan, one of his brothers.
