Expert: Al-Zarqawi 'more important than bin Laden'
http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/05/11/walsh/index.html
snip

COOPER: Interesting, though, that on the Web site they release the name Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, saying that he was the person, the masked person there, slitting the throat of this young American. Why would they add that detail?

WALSH: That's a really good question, and it makes one speculate, and this is only speculation here. But Zarqawi is arguably more important than Osama bin Laden right now.

While bin Laden is out avoiding capture in the frontier provinces of Pakistan, Zarqawi is executing operation after operation after operation.

This may be his attempt to assert his own claim to the leadership mantle, to say he's really the most important terrorist in the world today, and that he is, in some sense, replacing bin Laden."

I think OBL is out of reach, a new villain is being manufactured....After all he killed 700 people in Iraq - about the number of US soldiers. me thinks this guy is the October surprise...Watch more news about him being BIGGER THAN OBL...:puke:

1. Well, the US is certainly a joke now...
bin Laden is riding around Afghanistan on a donkey whilst hitched up to a dialysis machine, and now the arch enemy is some guy with a wooden leg.

Not exactly enemies fit for Superman...

3. Zarqawi is being manufactured as the new threat
if the guy "identified" himself on the audio portion of the video, why was his face covered?

To expose while hiding makes no sense whatsoever - so there is absolutely no real "proof" about the identity of the knife-wielder.

Now for the US to claim that he is "more important" than bin Laden is just complete bunk and a cover for the lack of follow through on getting bin Laden's head (dead or alive, IIRC).

If there are "terrorists" in Iraq, it's because we wanted them in there - so that there would be the terrorism/Iraq link that would enable the "war" to continue.

It is all crappola and this mal-administration has made their own wetdreams possible by their policies.

5. not to mention
we only have ever seen one file photo of Zarqawi... We've never seen him on video to link his face and a voice. How does the U.S. government even know what he sounds like? Why would he have such a high profile of terror attacks and never feed his ego by displaying who he is?

It's suspicously convenient to pin all that goes wrong in Iraq on this single boogeyman rather than a broad insurgence... And if they're lying about Zarqawi, that frightens me re: Berg.

9. They did a piece on him Thursday on CNN or MSNBC and
they showed multiple photos of him. He looked different in each one. I didn't even realize I was looking at the same person until I started paying closer attention and looked at the face in each one.

This is the one we most frequently see, but they have others:

Somewhere, there's a talking points bulletin saying to make everything all about Zarqawi, you can bet on it.

7. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about America, so I'll do both.
Just posted this rant elsewhere, but it seems fitting here.

What a tragicomedy America's fallen to.

Al Zarqawi now "bigger than Osama!"

Well sure he is. He's risen from the dead and has the power to regenerate limbs. Look out, he's a chameleon. He's lost his Jordanian accent, and God only knows what his face looks like now....

That people still fall for this shit is a tribute to the failure of public education, the successful psyops of the military/infotainment complex, and the basic decency of most Americans who refuse to recognize the dark games their goverment plays, even when they're played right in front of their faces.

My American friends, I'm deeply sorry for you. You should not be an object of pity. That's not your heritage, and that shouldn't be your destiny. But this is how low the cabal has brought you.

The emperor's lost more than his clothes. He's down to his dry bones. And still people cry "Hail Caesar!"

11. Why does this make me paranoid?
Isn't it unusual for Al Quaida types to mask themselves? It's doesn't fit their M.O., from what I understand. There is no shame, to themselves, in what they are doing.. there is no reason for them to hide their faces, if the guy was supposedly identifying himself on the tape. I'm not a tin foiler.. but..

12. Honestly, I do not believe these "experts" know what the hell they are
talking about. Either that or they are part of "group think" or simply regurgitate "talking points" memos because I have accurately predicted far more than these so-called "experts".
