U.S. Army Expresses Regrets Over Stabbing

May 15, 5:38 AM (ET)

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - The U.S. Army command in Seoul expressed "sincere regrets" Saturday after a South Korean man was reportedly stabbed by a drunken American soldier.

...

South Korea's national Yonhap news agency reported that Pak was stabbed early Saturday while trying to stop the American soldier from stomping on a taxi.

South Korean police detained the intoxicated soldier and four other U.S. soldiers with him at the time and handed them over to U.S. military authorities, Yonhap said.

"As always, we continue to educate our soldiers on proper behavior and respect when interacting with our (South Korean) hosts and neighbors to ensure our service members are respectful," the U.S. military said.

1. I just saw this on the news here.
Apparantly the guy got stabbed in the neck. I was watching the news in a restaurant, and one of the guys working there gave me a nice glare..:-)

Not really much information on the news beyond what was in the article above.

2. Hey come on. Its just a little frat house fun!
Our boys are under a lot of stress and have to blow off a little steam now and then. If the Korean guy didn't butt into important military operations, he wouldn't have suffered that casualty.

5. it is not systemic, it is just a few bad apples.
winning hearts and minds all over the world.

I think in the current atmosphere, anything like this is going to be viewed a little more critically than at other times by the world.
