John Kerry Calls Iraq Prison Photos 'Sickening'

<WASHINGTON - Democrat John Kerry, who made a late-night trip to the Capitol to see the photos of abused Iraqi prisoners, on Friday described the images as "appalling, depraved and sad" but argued that only a small fraction of the U.S. military was responsible.

Kerry faulted Bush administration's policies for contributing to the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers, including poor training for prison guards, extended tours for service members and the failure to grant rights to detainees consistent with the Geneva Conventions.

Kerry met with reporters and answered questions, including queries about the photos.

"They were sickening, appalling, depraved and sad," said Kerry, who indicated that the material should be released in one package though "there are obvious considerations in that process that needs to be thought through."

The senator said he was concerned that the photos would come out piecemeal and argued that it would be in the Pentagon's interest to release them in a single batch. He also expressed concern that failing to grant rights to detainees put U.S. soldiers at greater risk. >

...in "one package" instead of piecemeal (which we know is going to happen)....

Actually, I think a weekly photo or two between now and the elections might be a great thing to keep America sick until it voted Bush out...

I guess this was a good statement by Kerry? Doesn't advocate censorship and forces the Pentagon and WH to decide what they want to do and Kerry can always say - Hey, I supported and suggested you release it all at once...

I hope he isn't serious about this, because the world is not going to be suddenly keen on joining this fiasco, just because Bush is out. Not in any great numbers, not unless Iraqis go for a U.N. solution, which includes U.S. withdrawal. I wouldn't count on any of that.

If this had happened on Bill Clinton's watch, you KNOW they would have been published SIX MONTHS AGO on the highest-quality magazine paper, bound in leather and printed at taxpayer expense. Bill Schneider and William Bennett would be inescapable on TV telling us all about the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL these pictures represent.

Kerry and every other Democrat need to be making the Regime's collective life a living, breathing HELL by demanding the IMMEDIATE and full release of these pictures. Every third demand needs to be prefaced by "What is the administration trying to cover up?"

I paid for these pictures with my tax dollars. I want to see them ALL and I want it NOW!
