Outrage as KISS player mouths off on Muslims

KISS bass player Gene Simmons has caused an uproar among Australia's Muslim community by launching an attack on Islamic culture while in Melbourne.

The lizard-tongued rock god who is touring Australia with the world's most enduring glam rock band launched an attack on Muslim extremists during an interview on Melbourne's 3AW radio - including comments which were labelled inaccurate.

"Extremism believes that it's okay to strap bombs on to your children and send them to paradise and whatever else and to behead people," he said yesterday.

The Israeli-born US musician went on to say Islam was a "vile culture" that treated women worse than dogs.

4. As I said on an earlier thread, he's basically right

Generally speaking, he is right on this point. They do treat women worse than in other cultures. Women still can't vote, get abortions, own property, get educated, etc in large stretches of Afganistan etc.

However, Iraq was an exception b/c Hussein kept control on religion to avoid any threat to his power; his regime was nominally socialist.

My ex-girlfriend and son live over in Kazakhstan; it is full of Islamic nuts who would attack her for showing her knees if they had a chance. You don't want to be a woman over there.

Maybe you should hit the books and read about religions before jumping to conclusions. Yes, there are certain sects that interpet Islam in a certain way (suicide bombers, Taliban etc...). From my experiences with Muslims, women are encouraged to get an education, choose whom to marry and have a right to a divorce (so it's not a sin. In Qur'an God says "divorce is something I do not like, but is permited" (I apologize if I didn't quote it exactly the way it says but you get the point).

Maybe your friends should go on a vacation to places like Bosnia. If you're asking why, then get a clue.

and read about the worst places to be a woman? Or go to Amnesty International and check.

But he IS an idoiot. I'm pretty sure that's part of the Rock Star job description. Besides who in their right mind wants to even know what Gene's thinking is on anything let alone care about what he says.
