Bush Tells Wis. Graduates to Help Others

1 hour, 52 minutes ago

By SCOTT LINDLAW, Associated Press Writer

MEQUON, Wis. - President Bush (news - web sites) implored college graduates Friday to offer a helping hand to down-and-out Americans, showcasing the kinder, gentler side of his agenda at a time when images of wartime brutality are pouring out of Iraq (news - web sites).

"Many of us find that there is much more to life than getting and keeping," Bush said at the Concordia University of Wisconsin's commencement. America "rejects the ethic of sink or swim," he said.

<unbelievable>

Bush's Democratic rival, John Kerry (news - web sites), derided Bush's commencement advice. "The title of the president's speech should be 'Do As I Say, Not As I Do,' said Kerry spokesman Phil Singer. "George Bush has done nothing to address the fact that there are 3 million more Americans living in poverty since he went to the White House, including 500,000 more children."

<unbelievable>

Bush wore a black gown to the speech, where he accepted an honorary doctoral degree.

<unbelievable>

Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies...

Got to laugh at this story or you'll cry.

4. He got an honorary doctorate from Yale
in 2001, at the same time Sam Waterston received his. Sam got a larger round of applause. At least he knows how to act like a good President.

8. "Do what I say, not what I do"
"He said the Golden Rule's exhortation to treat others as you would like to be treated "is more than a familiar saying; it is the foundation of a meaningful life."

I hope the Iraqi's do not read this.
They might call him a hypocrite..

I just said that on a dupe thread that got locked..

9. Well, it's clear he's trying to sound like a liberal ...

while trying to destroy the liberal programs most Americans support:

First and foremost, the president said, "America needs your efforts and energy in the fight against poverty and despair."

sigh ... Meanwhile, the Republicans are trying to bankrupt the US government so they'll have an excuse to end the anti-poverty program that offends them the most: Social Security.

10. America "rejects the ethic of sink or swim."
Every time this "man" sank, daddy or daddy's friends rescued him.

He slums in the white house because the supreme court "rescued" him.

Everything about him is the life of a privileged frat boy who has never had to acknowledge he cannot succeed at anything. He would be food for the ocean's bottom feeders if it were not for others.

11. His new compassion shtick...
...is the epitome of hypocrisy.

As far as humor, he'll never top his golden oldie -

"...knock on a stranger's door, and tell them you want to come in and love them a little bit".

(funniest line I ever heard from a politician)
