City discusses vaccinations, bio-terrorism

Most residents probably don't think about it, but a major bio-terrorism threat could take place leading to a widespread vaccination initiative.

(TN) Tullahoma's Emergency Management/Homeland Security Council discussed that issue this week and agreed if a smallpox outbreak were to take place, Tullahoma residents would be bused from the Wal-Mart and Food Lion shopping center parking lots to a large-scale makeshift clinic at Coffee County Central High School in Manchester.

Ami Smith, state Department of Health bio-terrorism emergency response coordinator, updated the council on plans being updated to effectively vaccinate all residents.

(A vaccination by the Bush terror team after being bused from the Wal-Mar parking lot. Gee, looks like it's time for the second American Revolution...)

1. Lori, it's standard Public Health planning in the what if? scenario.
7 - 10 days is the "vaccination window period" PH experts have determined would stop a catastrophic spread of smallpox in the (admittedly unlikely) event...yes our tax dollars have paid for the planning and the stores of vaccine most Health Departments have on hand. Not a large piece of the Homeland Security budget by any stretch. I have no problem with it, at all.

Here in CA we routinely have "flu busses" available for transportation to various vaccination sites in the "Oct - Dec" window period for flu outbreaks...

2. In a time of 'Code Red' nat'l emergency, I don't trust the Bush Nazis...

to bus me *anywhere.* (a concentration camp?) My thinking here is that during a 'Code Red' alert, the Bush-Rove terror team would not tolerate one iota if dissent.

3. You'd be surprised how few Public Health folks are Bush Nazis...
trust me.

If you're worried about getting bussed to a concentration camp under a code red alert, you must be very important to the powers that be....I doubt in that scenario we peons would get much attention.

Sarcasm aside, as an example, Public Health Departments routinely vaccinate undocumented kids, technically illegal activity for the PH, because a kid with Rubella is a kid with Rubella and a Public Health concern. No questions asked.

I like your energy, but please pick a better fight....? Thanks.
