Limbaugh attacks prosecutors in full-page ads
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-- Rush Limbaugh took out full-page ads in two Florida newspapers today to attack prosecutors who are investigating whether he illegally purchased prescription painkillers.

In the ads, the conservative radio commentator renewed his accusations that the criminal investigation was politically motivated, and he accused one of the newspapers, The Palm Beach Post, of trying to discredit him to justify the investigation.

The ads also included a reprint of a favorable editorial from Sunday's edition of The Washington Times.

Limbaugh, who has not been charged with any crime, told listeners today that he bought the ads because "we just can't get our story out in the editorial pages of The Palm Beach Post." The other ad appeared in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

3. "Never argue with a man who owns a newspaper."
That was said by someone back in the Hearst era, IIRC. Now we've got a fascist sociopath with a radio show and enough money to buy full-page ads -- ain't "one-dollar-one-vote democracy" grand? :puke:

4. Guess he's not going for a plea bargain...
I have to wonder, tho. If he were convicted of doctor hopping, abuse of controlled substances, and/or obstruction of justice (vis a vis jury tampering), would Jebby just pardon his sorry cyst-ridden ass?

7. I'm more curious to see what the judge is gonna say.
This brings up an interesting point. It might be in Rush's best interests to see President Bush re-defeated and removed from office, the better to take advantage of one of those "twilight pardons" our friends on the other side of the aisle were so outraged about three and a half years ago.

What a dilemma for Rush--moving a step closer to his vision of corporate totalitarianism, or saving his own ass (and both holes). Wonder what he's gonna do?

"20 million listeners" and he can't get his story out? Rush, do you ever get up in the morning and look in the mirror and say "Oh, man, I am so full of hot gas?"

9. Prosecutors
Have a WIDE degree of authority and generally have a large degree of immunity for any acts they do in the course of a prosecution (obviously limited in certain circumstances). Where I am going with this statement is that if they have not already done so, the prosecutors may really start playing hardball with Limpballs and he and his legal team could be in for a rude (and expensive) awakening.

14. I'm Waiting...
...for the cops to come to Limbaugh's broadcast bunker with an arrest warrant just before the end of his show - preferrably on a Friday. And with the Dittocam running and all the dittoheads watching, they's read him his rights on the air and haul him away.

:-)

Press charges and yank him off the air or drop it. Every day he goes uncharged is a day he has to tamper with the jury pool.

24. Hilarious Google-produced ads on the story
Notice on the Houston Chronicle's story about this (at http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/nation/2567888) that the ads for related topics provided at the bottom by Google are two ads for purchasing Fioricet, Imitrex, Ultram, and Vicodin from online pharmacies.

Poetic justice.

Limbaugh has done enormous injustice to chronic pain patients everywhere.
