ROME, May 12 (Reuters) - Three mortar rounds were fired at the Italian embassy in Baghdad on Wednesday but the building was not damaged, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.
The agency gave no further details on the attack.
The report came after a journalist from Italy's state broadcaster RAI said that an explosion had hit the embassy building.
The journalist, Monica Maggioni, reporting live, said she had received news from the Qatar-based Al Jazeera Arab television that the embassy had been hit by a blast. Seconds later the link between Rome and the reporter failed.
