GOP Sen.: 'Outraged' by Outrage
A Republican senator inflamed partisan tempers Tuesday, charging his colleagues and the media with manipulating the images of Iraqi prisoner abuse for political gain.

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., said: "I'm probably not the only one up at this table that is more outraged by the outrage than we are by the treatment."

He said he believed that the individuals responsible for mistreating prisoners should be punished. He also speculated on how the prisoners must feel since Saddam Hussein has been ousted.

"I have to say when we talk about the treatment of these prisoners that I would guess that these prisoners wake up every morning thanking Allah that Saddam Hussein is not in charge of these prisons," Inhofe said.

A Ditto Head or just a ignorant liar?

Here are 50 US put into power leaders all of each killed 100 more than Saddam had. This is one put I feel Al Franken is a coward too. Franken speaks of how he was for the removal of Saddam because of all the terrible killing he did. Well, anyone who is moral, honest, and educated on history and current events could never pick on Saddam when US sponsored leaders murdered a million more.

7. Bart's Senator
Bart of Bartcop is stuck with him as a Senator. According to Bart, Inhofe is completely deranged. My deepest sympathy to Oklahoma DU'ers.

5. sadly, he is right
the alphabet media channels that have overplayed the "abuse" story now are at a loss of words to describe the absolute hatred and horror from bona fide evil terrorists today.

if we are "outraged" by some iraqis wearing panties and playing maked twister, what are we after a telecom worker gets beheaded as a political statement? our military's action were shameful, but can we get back to fighting these guys before they do something bigger than 9/11?

ugh.

15. Justification after the fact.
"We were right to abuse (never torture!) these prisoners because of the crime committed after the news of the abuse got out!"

Yes, there was a crime committed in the murder of the wannabe contractor. This does NOT justify the crimes committed by our servicepeople NOR the crimes committed by the officers in charge of those servicepeople.

And to say 'Saddam did worse' is kindergarden stuff. "Sure, I pushed Susie into the dirt, but yesterday Davy pushed her into the mud!"

Outraged over outrage. "How dare you be upset that crimes were committed!"

17. In the first place
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Period.

Secondly, the behavior of our soldiers will definitely play into the overall scene. These are photos and video. Each soldier involved gave aid and comfort to the Wahabbists and other Islamic fundies who we're there to get rid of. They are the threat, not the people ein the prisons or the man on the street.

Unfortunately, what this torture has done is to enflame the Iraqis against us. They now have all the justification they need to do whatever they wish to our soldiers.

This doesn't mean I side with the Iraqis; it means I fear for our own over there who have to deal with the blowback.

20. It still doesn't justify the abuses at Abu Gharib!!
Spin it how you like, but two wrongs do not make a right.

I am expecting the right-wingers to take the whole Berg issue as justification for the actions at Abu Gharib prison.

Yes the Berg decapitation was horrible, but it still does not justify our actions at Abu Gharib. Not in any way.

Do you think that Mr. Berg would have felt "better" as an Iraqi at Abu Gharib? How about as young boy being raped. How about as one assaulted and killed by our soldiers. How about as a dead man to be displayed as a trophy for our troops who posed for the photographs?

Let's be consistent here, okay?

11. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
Hussein and OBL hated each other. Hussein was a secularist, OBL was a Taliban. Do Republicans ever face reality?

14. His constituents should be outraged
As I watched those hearings today it irritated me more that those hearings get all this live press coverage as if something was actually going to be revealed other than the same sort of partisanship from the republicans running them and the obvious CYA from the upper echelons of the military and intelligence agencies that has become the norm. One republican senator practically laid the blame for this on the Clinton administration and Inhofe blamed the press for leaking the graphic photos, though we all know full well if they hadn't been discovered by the press this information would have never seen the light of day.

16. They don't wake up thinking anything, CUZ WE NEVER LET THEM SLEEP!
Somehow the standard of comportment is being less of a swine than Hussein. If you're not quite as brutal and ugly, then you should be lauded as a saint of freedom.

He said he was fooled by Colin Powell's dishonest UN Speech (he should have been reading DU!!)and that is why he supported the war at the time.

Is he reactive to the fact that Army reservists are used to transport Halliburton contractors?

...and certainly on the O'Franken Factor as well. They have compared their salaries to the troops and the living conditions.

Yesterday, Al lampooned Haliburton by calling the hotel they all stay at in Quwait- getting details on the luxury accomadations, etc...

He comes on again at 9:00PM too- check him out. Great guests too...

21. This is the new spin
Caught a few minutes of Hannity on the radio (what's the "bleech" emoticon?)and he was going on about the beheading incident. He blustered that there wasn't going to be nearly as much outrage about THAT video as there had been about the prison torture pics, then intoned (in that oh so pompous way of his):

"You want to see the face of evil, my friends? That video shows us the true face of evil."

Cut to comercial, change the chanel. So Sean is also "outraged" by the outrage. You're up, Rush.
