Cheney Defends Rumsfeld: 'Get Off His Case'

Vice President (sic) Dick Cheney moved to support Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld amid a firestorm over Iraqi prison abuses, with a statement that people should "get off his case" and let Rumsfeld do his job.

"Don Rumsfeld is the best secretary of defense the United States has ever had," Cheney, who has sometimes taken a lead role in advancing White House positions, said in a statement issued by his office late on Saturday.

"People ought to get off his case and let him do his job," Cheney said.

1. Now Chenney is correct, Rumsfeld is the best
SOD, if you happen to be getting rich from the war...

So from his point of view, he is correct, Rummy is the best
thing that could happen to him and his pals.

2. A crazy man defending an even crazier man
Mind you, I could have that backwards.

"The Washington Post newspaper said in its Sunday edition the Bush administration was reviewing hundreds of additional photographs of abuse of prisoners in Iraq, which a Pentagon official was quoted as calling "horrible.""

"The Washington Post said administration officials had been reviewing the additional photographs. The newspaper quoted a Pentagon official as saying the images, including some digital video files, depicted "live-action abuse." "

They are letting the truth out slowly, because it will be unimaginable.

9. Good. Let's give 'em plenty of airtime
Every conservative should have ample time to excuse these acts, the more specifically the better. They should also be maneuvered into attesting to their certainty that this is the full extent of them, and that it's not a systematic thing. Then, with the next wave of revelations, they should be respectfully allowed plenty of time to do the same. With time, they will all hang themselves, and all it will take is clips of their imbecility and duplicity to send them packing.

How can anyone near this administration claim with a straight face that he or she knows ANYTHING? They've been wrong about everything.

3. Defense by default
Cheney is not defending Rumsfeld as much as he is defending himself in this one.

4. Yes, leave him be!
Torture, illegal occupation and the pillage of a nation all require a man's complete attention. Do not distract the great SecDef, please, while he is busy.

10. The letters in today's Stripes are very much on Rummy's "case"
Cheney's and Bush's too. These letters are unprecedented for a military newspaper. I'll post the URL when it's up.

13. Let's see,
first Cheyney had to go with * to the 9-11 commission and now he's telling everyone to get off Rumfelds back, yeah I'd say he's the one in charge of this so called administration.
