UK troops clash with Basra gunmen
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3695787.stm

Hundreds of Iraqi militiamen loyal to radical Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr have clashed with UK troops in Basra.

Members of Mr Sadr's Mehdi Army militia attacked British patrols in various parts of the city, witnesses said.

Gunmen tried to storm the governor's building but were repelled by British reinforcements, according to reports.

The British military in Basra said two Iraqis had been killed, and one coalition soldier lightly injured. The violence is continuing, it said.
