Kerry Leads Bush 43%-37% In New Jersey Poll
(snip)

The Star-Ledger/Rutgers-Eagleton poll released Friday found 43% of respondents said they would vote for the Massachusetts senator, while 37% supported Bush. About 2% said they would vote for another candidate, while 18% said they were undecided. Meanwhile, the war ranked as the top concern in the survey. Among the 27% of respondents who said the issue was paramount in the campaign, Kerry led Bush 34% to 22%.

(snip)

About three-quarters of respondents said they already have "a lot" of interest in the campaign. That's a sharp increase from the last two presidential elections, when only about half of the state's voters were as interested at this stage of the campaign.

Kerry's strongest support comes from blacks and Hispanics, women, younger voters and senior citizens, while middle-aged voters, whites and men are more evenly divided between the candidates.

(snip)

The poll surveyed 643 adult New Jersey residents from April 28 to May 4 and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

1. I think a lot people now are embarrassed to have voted Bush
In NJ. All the Freepers at work were all quite and soft spoken today.

5. moe +/-4%?
Doesn't that mean that it could be 43% for Kerry vs 37% for Bush OR perhaps 39% for Kerry vs 41% for Bush? That doesn't sound exactly like good news.

3. Somehow I feel no elation in
knowing I have seen thru Bush all along. Finally voters are waking to the grim reality of "smoke and mirrors." It took so long for the average chump to see how Chimp lies! I only hope there will be a country left to save and wonder if it can even be rescued. We have no credibility anymore, the SS system is shot, and just forget about Medicare and the environment...:argh:

7. A few days ago CNN looked at the states that were barely won by either
Gore or Bush, and NJ was reported to be tilted toward Bush, so I think we should embrace these results.... until the next poll.

8. wow!
The Star-Ledger/Rutgers-Eagleton poll released Friday found 43% of respondents said they would vote for the Massachusetts senator, while 37% supported Bush. About 2% said they would vote for another candidate, while 18% said they were undecided.

I've read that 2/3 of undecideds historically go to the challenger (Kerry). So this would predict a 55% to 43% Kerry landslide in NJ.
Also, this is a jaw-dropping :wow: statistic, IMO:

About three-quarters of respondents said they already have "a lot" of interest in the campaign. That's a sharp increase from the last two presidential elections, when only about half of the state's voters were as interested at this stage of the campaign.
