US's Ridge says Greece can stage safe Olympics: Greek minister

ATHENS (AFP) - US Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge expressed his confidence in Greek security measures for the Athens Olympics despite a recent bomb attack in the capital, said a Greek minister after their meeting in Washington.

"We discussed the great issue of Olympic security... Mr. Ridge agrees that very important steps have been taken and that Greece can indeed stage safe Olympic Games (news - web sites)," Greek Public Order Minister Yiorgos Voulgarakis said after the meeting, according to a ministry statement issued here Thursday.

The meeting took place on Wednesday, only hours after three bombs went off outside a police station in Athens, fuelling security fears for the August 13-29 games scheduled to begin in just 100 days.

No one was injured in the explosions of the three homemade bombs made, according to police estimates, from dynamite bundles weighing 200-300 grams (7-10.5 ounces) each.

2. We can all trust the Chunkhead-in-chief.
Tommy the QB says so - that makes it true.

This is the guy that hikes the Terra 'lert to Orange whenever a convenient distraction is needed ... say now?

How about those canceled flights over the Holiday season Tommy? How many terraists did we catch that week thanks to Code Orange? Or was it to blunt Kerry's momentum?

Watch for "Code Orange" and "Chatter" warnings to try to take some steam out of the Abu Gharib tragedy...

3. Remember, this is the country where...
...terrorists lifted weapons from the war museum. This was during the quarter of a century when the Greek authorities couldn't catch them--a long period that ended only within the last couple of years.
