Schwarzenegger in Jordan following criticism from Arab-Americans

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) — California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger paid a hastily arranged visit to King Abdullah II of Jordan on Monday following criticism from Arab-Americans that his Mideast trip excluded a meeting with Arabs.
Schwarzenegger flew in from neighboring Jerusalem, where he paid tribute Sunday to the millions of Jews killed in the Holocaust and helped dedicate a planned museum of tolerance.

In Jordan, Schwarzenegger met Abdullah at Beit al-Barakeh, or House of Blessing — the king's private residence in Amman's suburbs. Political discussions during a royal banquet were expected to focus on Mideast peacemaking and Iraq, government officials said on condition of anonymity.

Abdullah is a friend of Schwarzenegger and has visited the governor at his home in Los Angeles.

1. Schwarzenegger is doing good things..
He is a propent of Peace and is using his celebrity to promote a new museum representing PEACE.

The Museum of Tolerence..

"The world should know we are not building a bunker. We're building something that breathes with life, just as God breathed life into us," Schwarzenegger said. "We look past the suicide bombers, the terrorists, past the blood. ... We look ahead to the time people can live side by side."

Enron E-mails Confirm Schwarzenegger-Ken Lay Meeting

Enron E-Mails Show Arnold Met With Ken Lay During Energy Crisis
Santa Monica, CA -- Internal Enron e-mails confirm that Arnold Schwarzenegger was among a small group of executives who met with Lay at the posh Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel in May of 2001, in the midst of California's energy crisis. View the e-mails. The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights, which obtained the e-mails, is calling on Schwarzenegger to acknowledge the meetings and disclose the information that was presented and discussed. The meeting with Enron occurred ten days after rolling blackouts darkened California for two consecutive days; Schwarzenegger has previously said that he does not remember such a meeting.

"You don't meet with America's most well-known corporate crook in the middle of California's biggest financial disaster and not remember," said FTCR's senior consumer advocate Douglas Heller. "Mr. Schwarzenegger should come clean about what happened at that meeting and if he shares Ken Lay's views on energy regulation."

The documents provide a list of invitees to the hastily arranged meeting and a list of those who actually attended. Only eleven of the 45 invitees attended, including Schwarzenegger. The meeting was meant to be an opportunity to gain business community support for Enron's "comprehensive solution" to the energy crisis. In one e-mail, Enron's VP of Public Relations wrote: "We'd like to position this meeting as an insider's conversation of what's going on with the energy situation. This meeting should be for principals only." (emphasis in original)

15. What on earth are you talking about?
The Museum of Tolerance in LA? That's been around for years. Though it wouldn't suprise me at all to hear that Schwarzenegger was somehow trying to attach himself to it and make it seem like his idea. Make no mistake, this man's agenda is to keep the status quo of privatized energy in CA while focusing attention elsewhere through bogus PR stunts like playing around with hydrogen cars & visits to the ME.

2. I hope he stays over there.........
I understand he just cut some deal to stop the lawsuit against the companies that ripped off CA in the energy scams, and to de-regulate the industry.

That was his mission, assigned to him by ChimpCo Inc. when he ran for governor.

4. Why didn't he visit the Palestinian-occupied territory while there?
>>>Sabiha Kahn, a spokeswoman for the California branch of the Washington, D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, called the Jordan visit "a good step in the right direction," but said he should visit the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

"I know he is more than willing to learn about all sides, and he should show that by visiting the Palestinian-occupied territory," she said. "There is a conflict and he is only meeting with the Israeli side."<<<

6. Time is of the essence...
and perhaps he needs time to work out solutions to present to the Palestinians.. I'm not a huge judge of peoples actions as some here are so anxious to condemn. afaic...he's married to Maria, she's a Kennedy w/Kennedy values.. so flog me, if you wish. I'll keep the faith and assume he's there for the right reason and plans to do more./

What the hell does Israel have to do with governing California? Is he learning how to murder protesters and/or deprive them of their land?
