U.S. wants to put guerrillas on the payroll, handing command to Saddam-era general
Thursday April 29, 2004
By JIM KRANE
Associated Press Writer
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) A new Iraqi military force being proposed to tame Fallujah's guerrillas could bear a striking resemblance to the guerrillas themselves.

The band of about 1,000 Iraqis would be led by one of Saddam Hussein's generals, and its U.S.-funded payroll might include some of the same gunmen who have been fighting U.S. Marines.

In a move resembling U.S. strategy in Afghanistan, the United States appears to be co-opting its enemies to end a siege that has drawn international condemnation.

A U.S. military officer privy to the negotiations said it was ``very likely'' that the Fallujah Protective Army, which would fall under the command of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, could include some gunmen who joined the uprising in Fallujah particularly criminals who signed on for money, and former soldiers disgruntled at losing their jobs when the Americans disbanded the Iraqi army.

1. We saw it coming, didn't we? But if Saddam's army is behind the
insurgencies, how are we now going to hire them?
The advantage is that CBS won't have any more pictures of torture by our army. The torture will be done by Iraqis to Iraqis and no trail left behind.

2. The Psychos for a Nazi American Century (aka PNAC) must be...
...fatigued from having batted around their dying prey, Fallujah, for a month now. So they're handing it back to their enemy and hoping we won't notice how doing so merely further reveals their collective insanity.

Hussein's Agents Are Behind Attacks in Iraq, Pentagon Finds
By THOM SHANKER

Published: April 29, 2004

WASHINGTON, April 28 — A Pentagon intelligence report has concluded that many bombings against Americans and their allies in Iraq, and the more sophisticated of the guerrilla attacks in Falluja, are organized and often carried out by members of Saddam Hussein's secret service, who planned for the insurgency even before the fall of Baghdad.

The report states that Iraqi officers of the "Special Operations and Antiterrorism Branch," known within Mr. Hussein's government as M-14, are responsible for planning roadway improvised explosive devices and some of the larger car bombs that have killed Iraqis, Americans and other foreigners. The attacks have sown chaos and fear across Iraq.

~snip~
Officials who have read the study said it concludes that in Falluja, which is currently encircled by the Marines, an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 hard-core insurgents, including members of the Iraqi Special Republican Guard who melted away under the American-led offensive, are receiving tactical guidance and inspiration from these former intelligence operatives. "We know the M-14 is operating in Falluja and Ramadi," said one senior administration official, speaking about another rebellious Sunni Muslim city nearby.

6. Laughable
and bizarre.

It tells us one thing: There must be 20,000 armed fighters in Fallujah.

7. This is what I think will happen with this "brilliant plan"...
The FPA will be armed (with our Taxpayer dollars!) with some decent weaponry. They will go into Falluja and all will be cool for a few days, weeks perhaps. The WH will see that June 30 coming closer and closer. Then BOOM! Falluja erupts AGAIN this time with the well armed FPA joining the resistance fighters to try and oust the American Imperial Occupiers yet again. Another bushco* fuck up!

8. There was an old Bushco who swallowed a Fallujah
I dunno why he swallowed that Fallujah,
Perhaps he'll die.

There was an old Bushco who swallowed a Saddam general,
That wriggled and jiggled and wiggled inside him.
He swallowed the Saddam general to catch the Fallujah.
But I dunno why he swallowed that Falujah -
Perhaps he'll die.

Etc.

10. What the hell was the point of going to war then?
The point was to rid the world of these terrorists, not give them "new" security jobs! By implication, then these terrorists in Al Qaeda can be reformed and we shouldn't be bombing them, but rather opening a dialogue and offering them jobs! Unreal. And Kerry is a flip-flopper

12. 100 troops dead over Fallujah?
Hundreds of civilians. And this is their solution?

The lesson of Vietnam. You don't start a military action unless you intend to finish it. If it's not worth fighting until the last man dies, it's not worth one man dieing.

Now, we've not only gone in and pissed off the entire Iraqi population. We've sacrificed our troops for nothing.

Bush needs to be strung up for this.

13. Have to invade Iraq cuz of 9-11. OK... cuz they have WMD... OK cus they
have dangerous chemical weapons....
Ok, cuz we need to bring freedom
OK, cuz Saddam and his generals are baaaaadddd dudes.

Hey, how dare those Iraqis fight to defend their own nation...

OK, let's just forget Saddam and give Iraq back to the rest of the Baaaaddd dudes... yeah, that's the ticket.

Hey, junta, forget trying to explain this whole thing and just answer these questions:

Why have all those lives been destroyed?

Where's Osama?

Who told the USAF to stand down when those jets were hijacked on 9-11-01?
