Thu, Apr. 29, 2004

President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney will meet jointly today with the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The 9:30 a.m. meeting will not include cameras or a stenographer, and there will not be any record of what was said beyond note-taking. Topics will include:

• Bush’s central theme is expected to be that he had no hint about when or where terrorists would strike.

22. Well, if you were Junior, would you rather say that you were clueless...
...about the events leading up to and including 911, or would you rather admit that you knew when and where they were coming, and:

1. As Commander-in-Chief, you failed to protect the citizens of this country; or...

2. You let it happen on purpose (LIHOP) to achieve certain political, economic, and military goals involving oil in Iraq; or...

3. You made it happen on purpose (MIHOP) to achieve certain political, economic, and military goals involving oil in Iraq.

Poor Junior...he's been backed into a corner of his own making. Poetic justice, if you ask me.

31. Exactly. This is just the latest 'ring of defense' for a corrupt ...
... mendacious, and predatory cabal that has absolutely no interest other than serving their own narrow self-interests. People like this populate most of the executive offices of the most predatory global corporations on the planet. They have golden parachutes somewhat like the one Bush41 used to bail from a plane allowing the crew to crash to their deaths. They escape with billions while employees are left jobless and without the pensions they earned many times over. They should all be stripped naked, tarred, feathered, and driven into the Mohave Desert to fend for their 'entrepreneurial' selves.

5. He was working hard reading 'bout them there stem cells...
Edited on Thu Apr-29-04 03:18 AM by AZCat
Remember how it was touted that he had actually READ briefings about stem cell research? Too bad he couldn't find the time to read another briefing...

To refresh your memory...

Reading, reflection brought Bush to decision
By Judy Keen, USA TODAY
<snip>
Bush knew that this would be a defining moment for his presidency, as political allies and foes sized up his ability to grasp a complex medical issue and balance the competing demands of science and politics on an emotional issue that has split his own party. He knew that whatever he did, he would infuriate many Americans.
<snip>
Bush has immersed himself in many issues since becoming president, but none preoccupied him as much as this one, aides say. He began discussing it with his staff on Jan. 21, the day after his inauguration. He usually prefers one-page memos to voluminous documents, but when he traveled to Europe last month, he took along a fat briefing book on the topic.

CLUELESS IN CRAWFORD!! That feature article on the DU home page (http://www.democraticunderground.com/articles/04/04/28_transcript.html) is labeled "satire", but probably not far off the mark.

10. Bush is expected to say he had no hint

I think I'm correct in saying that Bush is refusing to testify under oath. Theres only two good reasons for a God fearing plank like Bush to do that. One, your intention is to lie, or two, you aren't sure that what you're going to say is the whole truth.

I can't believe that after what Starr and the republicans put Clinton through that Bush can testify behind closed doors on such an important matter.

about the Starr/republican witch hunt, et al. :grr: I think they're too afraid of letting their base see the truth of it all. To deny that means they remain faithfully blind.

11. We all already know what W did that morning
Nothing.

What I really want to know is what did Dickie Boy do or not do that day.

This was a very clever way to put the focus on W, while everyone forgets about Cheney. However, it was Cheney who was really in charge and running the operation. I want to know what the hell was really going on in the WH Situation Room. That is the big unanswered question in my book.

29. And we know what Lynne Cheney was doing.... hanging up the phone.
Can you imagine the outrage if it had been Hilary Clinton in the response room the morning of 9/11?

Can you imagine the outrage if Hilary Clinton had been repeatedly HANGING UP THE PHONE and disconnecting the response room from others involved in the teleconference? During a national emergency?

Why does Lynne Cheney get a pass on this? Why does Dick Cheney get a pass on bringing his wife to the response room? Why was she allowed to use the phone? Who was she talking with that morning?

Where is the outrage?

These assholes no doubt did; I know they didn't testify under oath but I'll bet they recorded and wrote down everything down to a fart!

Wonder if the Dynamic Duds have seen those transcripts too!

26. Not exactly...
Republicans claimed that no transcripts were taken when our last real President & VP spoke--so their guys wouldn't look so bad.

But, according the BBC, Clinton & Gore were recorded. Transcripts are being prepared from the tapes.
