April 28 (Bloomberg) -- Former Vice President Al Gore will give more than $6 million to several Democratic groups, including $4 million to help elect John Kerry president, from a fund left over from Gore's failed 2000 bid for the presidency.
Gore, 56, will give $4 million to the Democratic National Committee "in support of its efforts to defeat" President George W. Bush, according to a statement from Gore's office.
He will give another $1 million each to the Democratic House of Representatives and Senate committees and $250,000 to the Democratic Party in his home state of Tennessee, according to the release.
"The outcome of this election is extremely important for the future of our country and for all that America stands for," Gore said in the statement. ``I want to help John Kerry become president and I want to help Democrats retake control of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives." <snip>
