25% of workers sleep on the job
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 05:19 PM by CShine
One in four people have fallen asleep at work, taking naps in the toilet, during meetings or under a desk, according to research out today. One in 10 of those slept for over half an hour, while the rest snatched catnaps for less than 10 minutes, according to a poll of 500 office workers, published by recruitment firm Pertemps.

The most popular places to kip included cars, desks, canteens or in the toilets, although one city worker admitted curling up in the staff shower and falling asleep.

A marketing executive took a regular afternoon power nap underneath her desk, while one builder dropped off 30ft up in the air in the cockpit of his crane.

Janet McGlaughlin, a director of recruitment firm Pertemps, said: "A tired worker is obviously not as productive as a fully rested one, so this research will naturally be of some concern to line managers, particularly as many respondents indicated that long hours and too much work was to blame.

3. You're right.
There is nothing wrong with taking short naps at work. I work at home and almost always take a 20 minute nap after lunch. Naps do a body good.

I have to pull the car bit or arrange for an off-site meeting when I'm feeling that dead...

11. Funny...
...There used to be this one guy I worked with who would seriously doze off at his computer from the time he got back from lunch until he left at the end of the day. Our supervisor would notice and not even say anything to him. It really used to piss me off. But that was before he got fired.

;)
