Astonishingly, I was unable to find media coverage of this bill, so use http://clerk.house.gov/floorsummary/floor.php3.

1. The link to the bill isn't working - what is the key issue the bill
addresses? I've been out for a week and seem to have missed a bit of news. The bill title, like most these days, is too generic to give any indication as to what the bill is about.

3. So...what exactly is in the text of this bill?
I couldn't find it.

What is the "ready to teach" act all about?

4. Looks like remedial grants for low performing teacher prep colleges
But so what? We have plenty of qualified teachers with full licenses who do not teach because of the pay, the aggravation, and so on. Here in Texas alone, we have 250,000 teachers who have licenses, who are not retired, who quit after their first or second year of teaching.

Retention is the key - we are graduating more than enough!

I know - I'm too dumb to quit; entering my 8th year. Oh and by the way, just dropped $20k on a brand new MA!

Sounds like somebody in the tech business has some stuff they need to unload!

5. Me, too. Just finished my 9th year.
And I'm unfortunately cynical about nifty sounding legislation, after dealing with it when it hits the classroom. Thus the question. Need more good teachers? Pay them what they're worth, and treat them like something more than the source of all society's failings.

I'm a few classes away from my MA...from 2 different MAs. They'll have to wait, though, until I'm done paying student loans for the credential.

Stick with it. Our kids need people who care about the job.
