Sienna Miller Describes Tabloid's Pursuit (News of the World)

LONDON—British actress Sienna Miller told a public inquiry here on Thursday that years of surveillance by News Corp.'s now-closed News of the World made her feel like she was in a videogame, with the tabloid "pre-empting every single move" by accessing her private communications.

Ms. Miller, whose acting credits include "Alfie" and "Factory Girl," became a pivotal figure in the downfall of the News Corp. tabloid, which closed in July amid revelations that the paper intercepted the voicemails of crime victims.

That's because, in 2010, information that surfaced in a lawsuit Ms. Miller filed against the News of the World led police to reopen a criminal investigation into the paper, kick-starting a chain of events that ultimately brought embarrassing revelations for News Corp. and the tabloid's closure.

Appearing on Thursday before a U.K. public inquiry probing the practices of the British press, the actress told of how a private investigator working for the News of the World intercepted her voicemails and emails and also targeted her relatives and friends.
