Police: McQueary didn't report abuse to us
Source: CBS News

(CBS/AP)

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Both Penn State's campus police and the State College police department say they never received reports from a then-Penn State graduate assistant related to an allegation of child sexual abuse against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.

Mike McQueary wrote in an email to a friend that was made available to The Associated Press that he had discussions with police after he said he witnessed a 10- or 11-year-old boy being raped in the Penn State locker room in 2002. McQueary testified in a grand jury investigation that led to authorities charging Sandusky with abusing eight boys over 15 years.

In the email, McQueary did not specify which police department he spoke to.

But a spokesperson for Penn State's campus police told CBS News that they never received a sex abuse report from McQueary. Separately, State College Police Chief Thomas R. King told CBS News that his department has no record of ever being contacted by McQueary regarding alleged sex abuse.

3. I still would like to know the answer to the question that was posed here
yesterday. What was a 10 year old boy doing on campus, and why was he showering?

4. He was brought there by Sandusky.
Since he still had full gym access as coach emeritus, he apparently would bring boys there to show off the facilities.

17. No, it does not make sense, but that's the explanation.
There was no excuse for that man to be in the shower alone with that kid, period.

Did you see Jerry's interview with Bob Costas? When asked if he was sexually attracted to young boys, it took him a full 16 seconds to come up with the word "no". It was one of the creepiest things I've ever heard.

19. Even Better
In a part that didn't make it to on-air, Sandusky said, 'I didn't go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs that I've helped'

"every" ...

And you were absolutely right. Except for the part in brackets where he laughs. This is just unreal.

his friend.

9. He emailed his friend when the court of public opinion judged
him to be without a shred of humanity or decency - after everyone in the world knew he left that little boy to fend for himself and ran away to call his daddy.

13. And making things even worse in the attempt. Now everyone
knows he not only didn't get the little boy to a safe place, but all these years later he's still lying about it.

14. Frankly I don't think it can get worse. However having read the NYT story
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 12:11 AM by snagglepuss
I might cut him more slack. The NYT story that someone just posted fills in a lot of missing details such as if McQueary had not told police what he knew when police interviewed him the victims wouldnt have testified because they knew it'd be only their word against Sandusky,

12. More than possible but McQuery ought to have a copy of that email he
sent to police. No one sends off something like that without ensuring they keep a copy.

16. According to others on this thread the email he showed
to the press is an email he sent this week to a friend in which he says he emailed the police a number of years ago.

23. He does not say that he emailed the police
I have no idea where you're even getting that, but it is false.

He says he "had discussions with police," and that's it. Where you're imagining this "email" to police, I can't figure out.

There is no claim that there was at the time an email to police.

He says he had discussions with police. He claims this in an email he sent to friends last week.

24. Would McQueary be able to tell the grand jury
exactly who, within either the State College or University Park police departments, he actually spoke with or reported it to? And when? This seems to be information he did not divulge to either state police investigators or the grand jury, which is exceedingly odd, if it actually happened (which I doubt).

25. The Million Dollar
question (one among many) in my mind at this point is how did this thing get to a grand jury? I little bird whispered in Corbett's year when he was AG? Somebody had to tell somebody something. A lot of something, actually. A Grand Jury isn't convened every time somebody tells somebody who tells somebody else that someone reported that he saw somebody doing something in a shower with a child
