Another staffer arrested at News Corp.
Source: Crain's New York Business

A journalist at Rupert Murdoch's The Sun tabloid has been arrested on suspicion of police corruption, British media reported Friday, a development that spreads the taint of scandal to the country's biggest-selling newspaper.

U.K. broadcasters and newspapers identified the journalist as award-winning editor Jamie Pyatt, whose name appeared on one of The Sun's most sensational scoops—a story with a photograph showing Prince Harry attending a costume party dressed in Nazi garb.

The Associated Press could not immediately confirm whether Mr. Pyatt had been arrested, although The Sun's publisher, News International, confirmed that one of its current employees had been detained. Police said only they had apprehended a 48-year-old man "outside of London" and had brought him to the capital for questioning. Public records show that Mr. Pyatt lives in Windsor, just outside of London.

Word of Mr. Pyatt's arrest first broke on Twitter, where photographer Alison Webster, who has worked for The Sun, said Mr. Pyatt had been arrested. Contacted by the Associated Press, Ms. Webster said she was only repeating something she'd heard from a colleague.

3. he covered the Millie Dowler case
and the revelation that The Sun's sister paper, the News of the World, hacked her phone, deleted messages from it, and led her family to believe that she was therefore still alive, was what got this story noticed. Far more likely the police bribes were in that case, since they've been examining it extensively. See reporting by Sky News, for instance: http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/16103268

4. So, that's how this hack won his "journalism prize"?
Murdoch's empire is filled with such Dreck. If abusing the truth were a crime, Rupert and Friends -- along with their scaly forebears at the Daily Mail and elsewhere on Fleet Street, the Fascist collaborators before the War -- would win the Nuremberg Prize.
