State Senate passes sex ed bill
Source: CBS58 News (vid)

MADISON -- Sexual education in the classroom could change. The state Senate passed a republican-backed bill that would require eachers to stress abstinence over birth control.

Some lawmakers say the bill is irresponsible and will leave some students ill-informed.

Senators passed the measure late Wednesday night and now it goes to the Assembly for vote.

If it passes there, the law would completely remove all talk about copntraception from the classroom.

7. That too. Though, I was thinking more like paper diapers...
because the paper fluff used in them could easily be profitable to a Koch Industry.

In a republican paradise the more you are ill-informed about, the better life is.

14. actually she was paid thousands of $$$$ for speaking against
pre marital sex. She was booted out of Wash U. in St. Louis tho!!! So I'd say she capitalized on it quite well!

15. Yeah but the point is she was told by her family & school to practice abstinence
Edited on Thu Nov-03-11 12:25 PM by LynneSin
When kids are told by the authority to "NOT DO THAT" - good chance they are going to ignore that advice and do it anyways.

And for every Bristol Palin or MTV Teen mom enjoying their 15 minutes of fame - there are thousands of girls who wonder 'what happened to my life' and 'why didn't I listen to teacher/parent when they said to 'wait' to have sex.'

11. abstinence is an inherently religious position lacking scientific evidence,
and thus laws like this should be found unconstitutional for both religious and free speech reasons.

13. Not this s*!t again.
Evaluations of abstinence education show that it is really not effective at reducing teen sex, pregnancies, or STDs. Teens are sexual beings. Teach them the facts, how to protect themselves, and consequences of non-protection.

I'm so sick of GOP moralizing.
