The panel also called on state Attorney General Bill Lockyer to open a criminal investigation into the conduct of Diebold Election Systems, the Ohio-based firm that manufactured the touch-screen system.

12. Great quote in the ZDnet version
Diebold representative David Bear said the company is "disappointed in the panel's recommendation and a little amazed and taken aback by the tone of some of the comments and the accuracy of the report."

I take this to mean that Diebold is amazed and taken aback by the accuracy of the report. I guess they never figured that the panel would see through all of their lies so clearly. :)

By an 8-0 vote, the state's Voting Systems and Procedures Panel recommended that Shelley cease the use of the machines, saying that Texas-based Diebold has performed poorly in California and its machines malfunctioned in the state's March 2 primary election, turning away many

19. Lockyer Also Addressed the Women's Caucus at the State Convention
And when he got some boos and hisses (undoubtedly for his vote for Arnold), he said something very similar to, "My, are we feeling cranky today?"

That shithead will never get my vote or support.

Unanimous California Voting Systems Panel Weighs in Against
Paperless Diebold Electronic Voting Machines

California's Voting Systems Panel has just voted unanimously
that the Diebold TSx paperless electronic voting system be
decertified for use in California. Although the final decision
is up to California Secretary of State Kevin Shelley, he is
expected to follow the recommendation of the board before
April 30, 2004.

The Voting Systems Panel did not recommend against continued
use of the Diebold TS electronic voting machines or use of
optical-scan voting machines. The GEMs software is also not
affected by this decision.

VerifiedVoting.org Legislative Analyst Bob Kibrick testified
at the Voting Systems Panel hearings.

I'm hoping Kevin Shelley realizes that he is at this moment one of the most influential politicians in the nation.
