LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- An Army sergeant from Ohio who recently returned from Iraq has been arrested in Lakewood, Wash., in the slaying of his wife.

<snip>"He hasn't been the same since he got back from Iraq," the brother, Joshua Pitts, said in a telephone interview from Ohio. "Something happened to him over there."

James Pitts apparently went to a bowling alley on the Army base, where he "called a third party and made a statement about the homicide," Troyer said.

That person told Army officials and the soldier was taken into custody by military police. He was later turned over to Pierce County authorities.

After the soldier was in custody of military police, the sheriff's office was notified and deputies were dispatched to the couple's apartment, where they found the woman's body.

2. remember those stories of soldiers returning from afghanistan
having killed their wives or girlfriends ? and they were guys all from the same military base. i'm not sure, but i think it was in north carolina and it all happened around the same time. but it seemed to show that their serving in war had affected them but they never recieved the treatment for mental health problems they may have had as a result of war.

3. He snapped. This isnt the last story you will hear
about young men and women coming back and snapping. Losing it. Living with horror and nightmares. and getting NO help when they return. Not any.
We have a whole generation of guys and gals who are going to come home and kill themselves, or be alcoholics, or just snap and kill someone else.
and the military wont help them, there wont be any shrinks or therapists waiting for them, nothing.
They will be damaged goods for life, thanks to that asshole in the White House, who is already an insane f*cking madman and should be dragged out in chains.
bring the troops home now

in Iraq

excerpt:

"This has devastated me," Pitts' father, also named James Pitts, told KIRO Television of Seattle. "My son called and said, 'I just killed my wife.' I said, 'You're (kidding) me.' My son says 'no' and hung up...

"I loved her like my daughter. He's not my son anymore. I feel my son is still in Iraq. You can thank George W. Bush for this."

<snip>

The 555th returned to Fort Lewis in March after nearly a year in Iraq and was feted with a welcome home ceremony Tuesday.

On April 10 the woman contacted authorities and said her husband had pushed and threatened to kill her, Troyer said. She completed a report and said the military was aware of the problem.
