Lawyer demands probe of Occupy assault
Source: UPI

NEW YORK, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- An anti-Wall Street activist allegedly punched by a New York police officer called for a probe after video showed the same cop roughing up a woman protester.

Felix Rivera-Pitre -- seen in video recorded Friday being grabbed from behind, swung round and punched in the face by a white-shirted officer identified as Deputy Inspector Johnny Cardona -- told the Gothamist Web site he "shot the cop a look" but did nothing to provoke the officer.

"The cop just lunged at me full throttle and hit me on the left side of my face," he said.

Rivera-Pitre's lawyer, Ron Kuby, who specializes in cases of alleged police brutality, called on New York District Attorney Cyrus Vance to conduct a "full, complete and lengthy investigation" of the incident, Britain's Guardian reported.

3. Violent cops should be prosecuted for assault.
Here's a reply:

It's got to be illegal for cops to abuse citizens the way they've been doing. Yes, the cops are authorized to use violence, but only when it's necessary to do so to contain a suspect.

Failure to prosecute abusive cops gives the signal to the rest of them that in the interest of protecting the 1% they can violate the laws they're supposed to be enforcing.

5. it doesn't matter if people don't reply
you shared this disturbing information, let people mull over it and conversations ensue. No body ever reply's to mine, and I don't reply to many...but I read and think and that is the ay it is here. The dopamine rush comes from seeing how many people read it, how fast the numbers fly up and the feeling of Being the Media to each other. Just relax. relax and keep your eyes peeled, ears to the ground and share. Peace.

6. The cops in NYC have been doing this forever.
Their problem now, is that we all carry cameras on our cell phones, and some of them quite good. They cannot hide behind their old line, "Who you gonna believe, a policeman, or that damn hippie?"
They have been weaseling out of these things like this for as long as I have been alive.

Their new tactic, I see, is to separate the rally, as they did efficiently at Times Square on Saturday. O 46ne group between 42nd and 43rd street, and another between 45th and 46th, with another on the way, from the east side on 46th. They divided the crowd, boxed them in, and prevented them from leaving. When things inside the corral that they setup get really crowded, all hell breaks loose. I was there, and could see it happening. At first I thought that they underestimated the crowd, but upon later examination, I realized that this was done by one of the higher ups, on purpose, probably in retaliation for the Tony Bologna incident.

They will continue to use tactics to incite violence, because that is the only thing that they know. They cannot defend their masters, nor can they call us a "bunch of nuts," if we are totally peaceful in our assembly to voice our grievances. They also have to use these tactics to justify the huge outlay of overtime for officers, whose services would be unnecessary, had they provided the rally with enough space.
