http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N21688943.htmWASHINGTON, April 21 (Reuters) - The White House, in a shift on Wednesday, left the door open to seeking more money for the Iraq war before the November elections as some members of Congress said emergency funds would be needed soon because of the violence in the country.
While the White House has maintained it would not seek more money for Iraq until January, spokesman Scott McClellan signaled that President George W. Bush would be flexible to meet the situation on the ground.
"At this point, we've been told that they (the military commanders) have more than adequate funding and resources to do their job," McClellan said.
But he added: "Those are decisions that are best made by the commanders in the theater. ... I think it totally depends on circumstances on the ground, and it depends on the security forces, the security situation moving forward."
