Gov. Walker defends large cut to Medicaid
Source: WHBL News

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Governor Scott Walker defended his health secretary’s plans to cut Medicaid spending today.

At a news conference in Madison, the Republican governor said the proposed cuts are designed to continue serving those who need it the most – and to make others pay more for their Medicaid coverage as their incomes go up.

Last week, Health Services’ Secretary Dennis Smith unveiled $554-million dollars in savings for Badger-Care and other Medicaid health programs for the poor and the elderly.

It looks like a lot of Peeps in Wisconsin will either lose or see cuts in their Medicaid benefits.

6. Walker's budget is attacking eligibility for Medicaid...
"Among other things, the state is asking for a federal waiver to tighten eligibility requirements for some people who can get coverage from their employers. Without the waiver, provisions in the new state budget would force 53,000 people to lose their tax-funded Medicaid coverage."

19. in reality NO
http://badgerherald.com/news/2011/10/02/wis_to_face_444m_in_.php

from the Badger Herald:Rep. Kelda Helen Roys, D-Madison, said the cuts would devastate those who were already in financially difficult situations. Roys also commented on the trend in cuts by the Walker administration, saying cuts to public education, health care and basic social services continue to have a negative impact on working families in Wisconsin.

“The Walker administration has made a choice,” Roys said. “The cuts to Medicaid are almost the exact same amount of money he gave in tax cuts to wealthy people in the state to provide further tax benefits for their health savings account. These are people that have great health coverage already, and they’re getting an additional break.”

Roys said Medicaid is critical for children, disabled individuals and working families whose jobs do not include benefits or health coverage....
“The idea that these cuts are somehow unavoidable, or that we could not have made another choice, is false,” Roys said. “You always have other choices.”

Vereide's anti-christ version of religion is based on this...

the the "C street Family and the Dominionists believe that God/Jesus only bless the Rich, Wealth and Power is proof of gods Favor of a man/corporation, so it is a sin to tax them. God Speaks directly to the rich/Powerful, the poor must "Submit" totally to their will, and become a slave to god. the poor/sick are being punished by god so it is a sin to help them, or not to torment them.

the Family, the Evangelicals, the GOP have melded into a single Evil Beast.. the Dominionist's. the historical definition no longer applies.. this is a Literal use. they want Total Dominion over everyone, and every aspect of their lives.. especially non believers. nothing short of Draconian Sharia Law

15. I don't. Dems were pissed & disillusioned, but that had nothing to do with our governor's race
or Feingold losing his seat.

It's time for people to take responsibility for choosing not to vote. It's simplistic to blame every Democratic election loss on election fraud. Choices have consequences and we are living with them now.

21. Closing your eyes to election fraud, is doing their will
enabling them to consistently cheat and win. Gore won, Kerry won, but by controlling the machines and the machine people - SCOTUS for example - their wins were denied and shown in error as defeats. I was in Miami and saw the riots by the paid Repugs. Talked to a guy at a bar in the airport who was flown in from AK to "stop the vote". Said he'd been banging on the doors with a bat all day, along with a lot of other PAID volunteers for Bush. Everyone says this didn't happen, but it did. I saw it with my own eyes. Every one of the vote counting machine companies is owned by someone who is a MAJOR donor to the Repug party, a Bush Pioneer. It's been proven the machines are hackable. Denial will not change these facts.

26. Not every Democratic loss is election fraud. Discernment & proof must be used.
You cannot cry wolf every time otherwise credibility is lost when it truly is election fraud. I am not closing my eyes. I live here in Wisconsin and overall there was not massive election fraud here in the loses last November.

When people choose to stay home and not participate in the process, then there are consequences for that choice.

primarily calling registered Dems only. Over and over I got my head ripped off because of healthcare. It was clear by what people were saying that we lost the messaging war on that one. It was also clear that the TREMENDOUS amount of money spent on campaign ads worked, given how many Dems said they were not voting for Russ and the parroting of the Repuke R. Johnson's talking points from T.V.

It was disgusting.:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: There's a lot of buyer's remorse since the new WI Pukes have tried to destroy education and villify teachers, state and county workers, etc., but too fucking late. We'll see what happens, but I've lost faith in the intelligence of the WI electorate.

14. It's a Catch-22 for some who have that coverage
Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 10:04 AM by mojowork_n
...and that's without the loaded agenda that the administrator of Wisconsin's "Health Services" department brings to the table.

Dennis Smith is the Heritage Foundation's biggest axe-wielder when it comes to spending on public health. He's been the main
talking head and Huckster-In-Chief, on FoxNews, shilling for Republican plans for 'health reform.'

http://www.heritage.org/about/staff/s/dennis-smith

The tactic is to say, "some of these people already have jobs. Their employers should provide them with the opportunity to
*purchase* their own coverage." But these are the lowest of the low-wage workers, folks who stock shelves at Wal-Mart or
empty bed pans or sweep floors in hospitals. They technically work for the mega-corporations that own and run the individual
hospitals that hire the staffing companies to provide them with cleaning or maintenance services, but no one cuts them a
break on their own health care costs.

And then with the other hand, the Heritage Foundation policy 'experts' help to make sure that those same employees will forever
remain part of a union-free, captive peon work force. Without the means to pay for that 'health coverage' without getting a
second or third job, or moving out of their homes to live under a bridge. Next to the bridges where the trolls who eat
children live.

24. Group Homes for the Developmentally Disabled
DEPEND on Medicaid funding to continue operating. The Alien from Florida tried to slash funding for Medicaid and the Non-Profit Agencies went on a campaign showing videos of their "consumers" in wheelchairs, being fed, helped with brushing their teeth, smiling, etc. No way could any of these people depend on "jobs" to get medical benefits. If it wasn't so cruel, it would be laughable. Apparently, all the negative press worked and Tricky Ricky didn't gut funding.

Get the Non-Profits in Wisconsin to air spots like they did in Florida.
