Top UN officials linked to Iraqi oil scam
At least three senior United Nations officials - including the director - may have looted millions of rands from the oil-for-food programme that supervised Saddam Hussein's oil sales in Iraq, according to a new report.

ABC television in the United States quoted US and European intelligence sources as saying documents recovered from Saddam's oil ministry linked the director, Benon Sevan, to a pay-off scheme.

This scam, involving oil vouchers, allowed about 270 foreign officials to deal in Iraqi oil at sharply reduced prices, ABC news said.

1. When Bush going ask for money after the 22 billion the contractors have
stolen and not done the work. That oil for food money is Iraq's money not mine. I want to know when the hell the US media is going to start asking questions.

2. But if we only turn over control of the oil fields to the U.N. there will
peace. I am sure all the money the U.N. scammed was used to help the poor.

5. I'm sure you'd rather trust it to Halliburton and/or Chalabi.
But hey, I can understand that. Just because Chalabi has already been convicted of bank fraud and Halliburton has repeatedly attempted to fraudulently overcharge US taxpayers for services in Iraq, is no reason to conclude that they won't be honest from here on out. I'd much rather trust them than the UN.

3. Be wary...
From what I understand those documents are in Chalabi's hands...we all know how reliable Chalabi intelligence is, and we all know how they enjoy propagating their "message" through the media.

4. And pretty convenient for this to come out today....
just one day after Chalabi announces, "there is no way that the UN could involve itself successfully here in Iraq..."
