All 300+ troops!

How many does that make? Spain, Honduras and I think Poland(?) now Dominican Republic!

3. I Heard...
Thailand said they'll pull their troops from Iraq if they get attacked there.

I heard that on radio @ 4:30 west coast time today.

But I bet they pull out altogether.

I hate Bush Inc.

5. Did they already get their planes?
Do they have to give the bribes back, now?

It would be handy to have that money for education.

9. Plans to build NATO bases in Poland...
...were just announced this winter.

Reason being, the US wants to move some major air support centers further east, to be closer to southwest Asia.

Building a major sir base in Poland (of the aforementioned Coalition of the Bribed) would effectively deny Germany (of the Coalition of Common Sense) some of the economic benefits that they currently enjoy with Ramstein AFB.

Convenient, huh? It's all playground BS.

17. poland is planning on pulling troops
Ireland.com
Poland is planning to withdraw its troops from Iraq in the coming months, dealing another blow to the US-led coalition forces there.

21. Poland's been looking to get out for months
They've been talking about it since the fall, and I bet they're gone by summer. They have the second-largest contingent of troops there, and that would hurt, A LOT.

28. AFAIK Ramstein will continue
- currently it is being enlarged and modernized. Although it doesn't cover the expenses, the US gets money from the German Federal Government for operating those bases.

16. True enough.
Crash and burn seems to be a more appropriate title for the present effort than "mission accomplished" ever was.

13. Coalition? Corporation.
They "Coalition" were employees of the US, basically, performing their duties in exchange for pay. Like most employees with a maniacal boss, they are deciding that no job is worth it.

I'm impressed that the Dominican had 300 troops! That may be almost as many Dominicans as play for the Yankees minor leagues.

14. LOL Did they provide troops, or were those just lost tourists?
They wound up in Iraq, Bush counted them. Probably counted them twice, like he did in Florida.

22. I'm half Dominican and I say...
what the hell were soldiers from la Republica Dominicana doing over in Iraq in the first place?

I know that the U.S. and the Dominican Republic have had a rocky past. The U.S. entered the D.R. and squashed a rebellion that they characterized as being a Communist uprising in 1965. My dad has let bits and pieces of the bloody scenes he witnessed creep out, but generally he doesn't like to talk about it. I know he said his sister was in Santo Domingo at the time and hid under a bed for several days in fear of the fighting in the streets.

Sorry, I went off on a little tangent there.

23. Over in the thread below….
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x499098

Yahoo reported that Powell received “solid” support from his calls on the coalition….I posted a excerpt from a Dow Jones item that said he “generally” received promises of continued support…..I’m beginning to think the term “generally” was used too liberally….

assurances from the UK and that's all that really counts to him.
