Rep. Pelosi prepared to blast Bush on Iraq
http://www.thehill.com/news/042104/pelosi.aspx

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will unleash a broad indictment of the Bush administration’s Iraq policies at a speech before the American Society of Newspaper Editors today.

Her speech will be a stinging rebuke of the process that led to war, the White House’s immediate reconstruction plans and its schedule and strategy for transferring sovereignty in just 74 days.

Pelosi, who voted against the war in October 2002 and against the $87 billion spending package, has been relatively measured in her criticism of the war up until now.

But after a month of high casualties in Iraq, conversations with constituents over the Easter recess, and her own Baghdad visit in March, Pelosi has decided to escalate the House Democrats’ criticism of the war.

I received a letter from her the other day asking for money..I think I'm going to wait to see what she does on this before any money is sent anywhere. And, any money that's sent from here is taking away one of my meds.

3. She campaigned against it in the House
She voted against it and also tried to rally her fellow democrats in the House to vote no as well. She is said to be the reason why most House democrats surprisingly voted no. Pelosi was perhaps the leading opponent of the war in Washington.

After the saddam statue toppling thing.... she held the strings on whether the dems signed off on a letter of f'ing congratulations and lauding to pres bush 'for his handling of things in iraq.'

I think it was moveon that sic'd the people onto her telephone and fax and email lines....

And she asked moveon to tell everyone to please cool it on the calls... 'she had it handled... she HEARD our message.'

What happened?

She signed the f'ing letter! She signed the ceremonial letter of praise to bush for the whole iraq mess... saying the world was safer without saddam. I believe she facilitated it so that the ENTIRE house of reps signed it... every democrat. I forget what Kucinich did...

She has done more than a few things like that. So, whatever possessed her to go against the war initially....she doesn't hold quite as close to her heart....

But we will see what she comes up with.

18. Nice Try
So what ever possessed her to what? To say what you mean when you say what she said... go spin somewhere else.

5. Yep, and it was she, not Kucinich, who led the revolt against Gephardt
and got two thirds of the Dems to vote against IWR. Pelosi, not Kucinich, was the Minority Whip at the time. She spoke clearly against this war before IWR. Yes, Kucinich spoke out also and voted against it, which I'm glad, but Pelosi was the leader who got the votes needed to show opposition to this montrosity. This is why I can't forgive Kerry, Gephardt, and Edwards for their votes. The majority of the House Dems saw through the charade.

Lieberman had his own pro-Likkud agenda in mind when he pushed for IWR, so he knew it was a charade and he was taking advantage of it.

I love it! Today Hillary Clinton, tomorrow Nancy Pelosi. I hope these speeches bear fruit with the newspaper editor and reporter community.

Ooooh, Nancy, don't gum me to death!

Stupid wimpy-ass dems. Worse than Hillary on Larry King, casually bemoaning Chimpco like they were just a slightly incompetent bunch of well-meaning politicos.

Fuck all of them who aren't expressing total outrage at these treasonous fuckers.

21. that's a start
I honestly don't see how Bush can give a speech these days without everybody throwing their chairs, their food, their plates, at him.

I just don't get how the people aren't just shutting everything down until he resigns.

I honestly don't see why the so-called "news media" isn't going on 24 hours a day about how this country has been taken over by a bunch of criminal murderous fascists and calling for their imprisonment, and not shutting up until it happens.

And I sure as SHIT don't understand how anybody who calls themselves a "conservative" can put up with the fact that this guy showed war plans that were distinctily marked "not for anybody foreign to look at" to the fucking ambassador from Saudi Fucking ARABIA!

She has been quite courageously front and center!!!

Kick those neonazicons' butts,...and, as they foam at your heels, just remember,...you are saving the lives of all those who deserved a better chance than these neonazicons who had it so good and think themselves so much MORE equal that they betray the rest of humanity!!!

12. Thai Army: Attack Us and We'll Leave
This has to go down as one of the most insipid public statements ever made. The Thai Government has announced that they will withdraw their military from Iraq if their troops are attacked by the insurgents. What do you think is going to happen next?

16. Pelosi reminds me of The Holy Grail "be gone or I will taunt you again guy
You know, i really hate having to continually bitch about pelosi, but how pathetic is it when you put out a press release saying you're preparing to do something. Sorry Nancy, in politics "preparing" is not an action verb.

This is a story from The Hill about how she will make a speech on Wednesday blasting the Bush administration's handily of Iraq.
