al-Sadr says Australians are being targeted for kidnappings
Yet our PM still huffs and puffs away

"RAFAEL EPSTEIN: I'm sure that the Sheikh knows that in Australia there is a debate about whether or not Australia's soldiers should come home by the end of the year. Can I ask what he thinks Australia's troops should do?

FUAD TARFI (translated): My advice to them is to withdraw their forces as soon as possible. We want them to go back home. We want the Spaniards to go back home safely. We want the Australian's to go back home safely. We want all the forces to go back home safely.

....

RAFAEL EPSTEIN: But presumably it's okay to kidnap Australians and Americans?

FUAD TARFI (translated): Yes, the answer is yes. We have knowledge and information of some of them trying to kidnap Australians and trying to kidnap Americans as well and they are trying to kidnap also soldiers or officers or citizens from all the countries that are participating in the occupation of Iraq"

1. It's nothing personal.
They just want us out of their country. I saw a report on the news tonight that said that KBR and Halliburton had had 33 of their workers killed in Iraq. Then I saw a report showing some guy leaving for Iraq because of the money they are offering and besides, "there aren't really any good jobs around."

How bad must our economy be that it's better to volunteer for target practice in Iraq, and you get to be the target.

4. Wasn't
Howard supposed to go and visit our troopers in Iraq sometime soon?
After suggesting that Australian civilian workers there should stay put,I wonder if he'll go ahead with his visit?
Or will he figure that things are a bit too 'hot' at the moment in Iraq?

5. it's not close enough to the election yet
but it wouldn't surprise me to see Hill drop in there on his way to/from Gallipoli next week. I wonder if Hill has had his anthrax shot like he made the troops do? One rule for him ....

6. I think
all the war supporters should get rabies vaccinations.
Just to be safe.
