Wounded Iraqi journalist says U.S. troops and Kurdish militiamen killed his colleagues

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) The U.S. military acknowledged Tuesday that American soldiers killed two employees of a U.S.-funded Iraqi television station, saying the men may have failed to heed warning shots. A wounded cameraman said troops opened fire immediately on their vehicle.

Angry Iraqi journalists joined a chanting, weeping crowd Tuesday as two pickup trucks carried the flag-draped coffins of the slain men into Baghdad.

The shooting of Al-Iraqiya correspondent Asaad Kadhim and his driver, Hussein Saleh, was galling for many employees because their station funded by the Pentagon and broadcasting from U.S. coalition headquarters is derided by many Iraqis as a source of American propaganda.

''Al-Iraqiya mourns its two heroic martyrs ... killed by the treacherous fire of American occupation forces,'' read a black banner carried by the crowd. One man shot an automatic rifle in the air as mourners waved pictures of Kadhim.

Its pretty sad when you kill the people you're paying to spread your propoganda. Wonder how long the network will last now.

6. Responsibility
At some point "our boys" must accept responsibility for their actions as well.

Thus we go about methodically creating more despair and hatred.

When I think of the number of Iraqis who by this time have had their children, parents, brothers, sisters and friends killed by Americans, I don't wonder that the hatred and desperation are reaching the boiling point and uniting old rivals against us.

5. They must be feeling the pain of a form of betrayal far greater,...
,...than we are feeling and those who finally acknowledge what's happening will feel. I mean, my God,...the loss they are bearing is unimaginable,...and the dashed hopes built upon millions of pre-war American flyers dumped upon them must be horribly painful. If everyone in the USA felt an inkling of what those experiences must be like,...no one but those few truly black-hearted people could avoid understanding the evolving rage of the Iraqi people.

I mourn for the Iraqi people, everyday. I mourn for the ignorance of the American people, too, because they have little clue that they are placing their children and grandchildren right in front of an on-coming train.

Sad, all around. Very sad.

4. "Is this the democracy you talk about/bring?''
How many different articles, quoting different sources, saying the same thing, just in the last couple of weeks? Way too many!

8. "...the men MAY have ignored warning shots..." They may also have
been wearing t-shirts with target iron-ons while holding up signs that said "Please, please please shoot us!" Let's face it: Chimp's lack of planning have put our fighting men and women in a situation where they have to treat everyone as a threat, and act accordingly.
