KFC courting controversy with Tibet plans
OCCUPATION BY PROXY: The chain wants to open one of its restaurants in Tibet, attracting accusations that it has become an instrument of Chinese imperialism

REUTERS , NEW YORK

Freya Putt, program director for the New York-based Students for a Free Tibet

KFC's plan to open one of its signature fried-chicken restaurants in Tibet as early as this year is likely to face resistance -- but not because it is American.

The unit of Louisville, Kentucky-based Yum Brands Inc announced the move in January, making it one of the few Western companies to receive permission from Beijing to expand into Tibet, where Chinese troops forcefully imposed their government's rule in 1950.

But with KFC's move into Tibet comes the threat of political backlash from groups that see the company not as a symbol of US economic domination, but rather as an instrument of imperialist China, which recently has been trying to bolster Tibet's fragile economy through tourism.

Surely China has murdered more people, stolen more money, has more WMD, is more a threat to the US and the World than Iraq was. Where are the American Media Whores telling the truth? Why is the Bush family in business the murdering Chinese Communists? (and the Saudis).

1. See there are good Commies and there are bad Commies.
China is a "good Commie nation" because they make our shirts and shoes in sweatshops for pennies on the U.S. corporate dollar. We envy China's business practices so much that we gave them 'most favored trading' status.

The USSR was a "bad Commie nation" because we couldn't buy baseball caps or disposable diapers from the Soviets (their workers were to busy in potato/toilet paper lines).

Glad I could clear that up 4 ya.
