Wildfire near Yosemite now 80 percent contained

(08-30) 21:52 PDT EL PORTAL -- Crews continued to make good progress in battling the "Motor Fire" near Yosemite on Tuesday, prompting authorities to declare the wildfire 80 percent contained.

The blaze, sparked by a motor home fire Thursday on Highway 140 near Cedar Lodge, has burned more than 5,321 acres along the steep terrain on both sides of the Merced River.

3. I just got back from yosemite

About a week ago we were about 30 miles outside of the park when the radio said a trailer home fire had spread to a hundred acres; and sure enough out there in the distance was a giant plume of smoke. We camped at about 9 thousand feet, so we didnt have to worry about the smoke, but it was impressive.

Yosemite is beautiful btw. All of it.
