Detroit legislators, civil rights groups speak out against 'anti-Sharia' bill

State Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Harvey Santana, along with leaders of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the NAACP and the ACLU, spoke out against Rep. Dave Agema’s bill to prevent implementing “foreign laws” today outside the state office building in New Center.

“If this bill is passed…it could perhaps place into jeopardy mediation between couples going through divorce, how religious law can be seen in terms of children’s rights—if children can be allowed to go to private school,” said CAIR-Michigan Executive Director Dawud Walid.

“If someone wants to file a legal challenge because Dearborn offers halal meat to its students because the majority of its student population is Muslim, they could say that the Dearborn schools are under a foreign type of system.”

Theoretically, the proposed law could also be used to block school cafeterias from providing Lenten fish fries and kosher meal options as well.

like a brain transplant to replace the clearly dead brain of those afflicted.

5. Federal law does not require school districts to observe or provide for meals
Federal law does not require school districts to observe or provide for meals based on religious dietary restrictions, nor offer vegetarian choices; although individual districts may provide such services.

and how every American is governed by and must abide by the constitution of their state as well as the federal government. I think the US Constitution makes it very clear that no religious law will every supercede it.

Are conservatives so bigoted and and hateful and bitter that they don't think schools can make reasonable accomadations for the children in their district? This is so incredibly stupid and is the typical bullshit distraction. Just like the Ground Zero Mosque. Another thing to get people to fear those scaaaaary Mooooslims.

Oooooggggaaa Booooogggaa!
