Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who recently said he was leaning toward running for re-election in 2013, tells The Washington Post that he's also interested in battling Democratic Sen. Mark R. Warner in 2014.
The Post is reporting on its website this morning that Cuccinelli is interested in taking on the first-term senator and former governor, and that the attorney general criticizes Warner for not challenging his leadership in the recent congressional deficit debate. Warner was part of the so-called "Gang of Six" that tried to broker a bipartisan deal.
Warner's spokesman, Kevin Hall, had this to say to the Post about the reported possible Cuccinelli challenge: “Once again, Mr. Cuccinelli is wrong on the facts, but never in doubt.”
A recent poll showed Cuccinelli beating Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling in a prospective GOP gubernatorial primary in 2013. Cuccinelli told the Richmond Times-Dispatch then that he found the results encouraging but that he had not changed his stance of leaning toward another term as attorney general. But, he added, he was "certainly thinking about other options. But not particularly actively, still."

I didn't post using the
Washington Post article, because the old browser I use has problems with their website. Here's the link to Anita Kumar's article, which I can provide without trouble.
