Stolen $250K Rembrandt Drawing Found in Encino
Source: KTLA.com

A Rembrandt drawing stolen from a hotel in Marina del Rey has been found.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials say the pricey artwork, called "The Judgment" was located early Tuesday in Encino after authorities followed up on a tip.

An art expert was called in to make sure it was the original drawing, which dates back to 1655, officials said.

The etching disappeared sometime between 10:20 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. Saturday from an art exhibit at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey, said Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore. Investigators believe the thief orchestrated a well-planned heist to get the Rembrandt out of the building while a curator was distracted.

6. stolen drawing recovered in a church..
According to the article that I've read, the stolen drawing, drawn by 17th century master artist Rembrandt van Rijn, was recovered Tuesday at an Encino, California church. The drawing was taken Saturday night from an exhibit in an upscale hotel. Law enforcement were tipped off anonymously as to the sketch's location. I read it here: Stolen Rembrandt sketch recovered in a church. Well, maybe it's just a proof that a church is really a place for reconciliation.
