Warren Jeffs gets Life, plus 20, to be served consecutively
Edited on Tue Aug-09-11 11:40 AM by Hepburn
Source: TRU TV -- In Session, Breaking News

Child rapist and FLDS "prophet" Warren Jeffs who was convicted last week of child rape of two of his 24 under-age "celestial" wives, was sentenced today for "life" for the rape of his 12-year-old "bride" and 20 years thereafter for the sexual abuse of his 14-year-old "bride" who bore him a child at age 15 years.

Some times, the justice system works! :applause:

3. 12-Year-Old Child Bride:
Child Bride Sex Tape Stuns Warren Jeffs Courtroom

Jurors at the Warren Jeffs trial broke down in court today as they were played a chilling tape of the notorious polygamist instructing his child brides how to service him sexually and threatening that God would 'reject them' if they refused to have sex with him.

Softly telling five girls to 'set aside all your inhibitions', the convicted paedophile was heard giving the young girls detailed pointers during a graphic ten-minute tape played for the Texas jury.

The audiotape from 2004 was played before another, made within hours of the first, in which prosecutors say Jeffs can be heard having sex with all the girls at the same time.

10. +1,000,000

Two of Jeffs' "wives" held down the 12-year-old in a bed that is in their Temple for use to consumate these "spiritual" unions. This can be heard in one of the tapes played in his trial.

:grr:

IMO, it is NOT going to change until they go after the parents as well as the perverts who marry these child brides and the women and men who "assist" in the consumation of the marriage.

children to be in this so called marriage. They should be tried for contributing.

2. Up-Date: Polygamist Leader Gets Life in Prison for Assaults
The jury deliberated less than half an hour.

The 55-year-old Jeffs was convicted Thursday. During the trial, prosecutors used DNA evidence to show Jeffs fathered a child with a 15-year-old and played an audio recording of what they said was him sexually assaulting a 12-year-old.

Jeffs is the eighth FLDS man convicted since a raid of a ranch run by the church, which believes polygamy brings exaltation in heaven.

30. I am totally delighted about the verdict and the sentence.
Now the Yearning for Zion Ranch NEEDS to be raided and children at risk removed...and this time not returned so swiftly.

This same shit under Rulon Jeffs (Warren's father) was going on back in the 1970s when I was in the St. George, UT, area. Everyone knew about Colorado City...and what the hell went on for real at that "religious" compound.

Just saw and heard Jeff's half-sister being interviewed ~~ her take was bascially: Good, he finally got what he deserved.

31. Very interesting, Hepburn.
So, I guess that makes him a legacy rapist of little girls. I read that it took the jury just 55 minutes to render their verdict. The last time I was on jury duty, we could have convicted in 5 minutes but after three weeks of testimony (in which no credible defense was offered) we decided to have one free lunch on the USA and then go tell them what they already knew: guilty! Jeffs may have clucked about his innocence, but only the most deluded person could have considered themselves not guilty. A serial rapist has received his sentence, an appropriate one where he did get what he deserved. I hope the women he exploited are able to get counseling. Yes, all other 'religious' compounds where women are enslaved and children are exploited need to be shut down. :hi:

32. I have the same feeling about the Jeffs jury in both phases of deliberation.
About 55 mins for the verdict and 30 mins for the sentence rec. Your jury experience is interesting...some times, it seems so clear cut..and Jeffs IMO was one such case.

What I heard from the TRU commentators is that the tapes and witnesses were truly disgusting to anyone and everyone there...excepting Jeffs, of course. He got an order from the judge that he could leave the courtroom during the penalty phase because he could not stand to hear his religion degraded. GMAB...!!!

I also heard and read that he mandated and total news and internet black out at the YfZ Ranch...so that they would never learn the true facts. Asshole is trying to tell his followers that lies convicted him.

Unreal...

35. Unreal says it all.
As for the blackout on the ranch--just goes to show how brainwashed they are to obey him when he had no way to retaliate. Obviously they never heard of "No! Go! Tell!" Jail is where this pervert belongs and the evidence presented was all it took to convince the jury. I don't think it would be possible to 'degrade' this monster's so-called 'religion.'

My jury case was financial fraud that involved two guys who had just gotten out of prison (for fraud) and started up a company with a sweet faced old fellow with an oxygen tank as their front man. The two younger men(40's-50's) met in prison after both had been barred for life from raising funds from investors or even working in the financial industry. They stole $22M in 14 months by getting people to invest their life savings in property that they didn't even own and then funneling the investments into fake paper trusts. Porsches, SUVs, kitchen remodeling, plastic surgery for ALL their girlfriends, jewelry were all charged on the company credit card. The Santa Claus looking front man in his 70s got five years+ 5 years of probation (his first conviction). The mastermind got 50 years+probation, and the sales manager (his 3rd major white collar conviction) got 85 years+probation. The lies and excuses were so outrageous that the jury had to be sent on break several times to get a grip on our uncontrollable laughter. The Federal judge decided the sentences. The jury had no say in sentencing whatever. Very interesting case, and such satisfaction to know that ordinary people DO have the power to remove predators from society.

Sexual assault on children is unforgivable. Predators such as Warren Jeffs have no remorse and no chance of rehabilitation. Prison is where he belongs.

Sometimes someone's religious beliefs are sick and wrong and there is no reasoning with them. This guy's beliefs led him to rape children, his kind cannot be healed they can only be removed from society.

25. Jeffs is a truly evil man
Testimony at the sentencing from his own nephew was that Jeffs sodomized him as a 5-year-old child. Apparently, Jeffs hid the assaults on the male children, but publicly bedded his child brides in the bed at the Temple that had the chairs around it so that his followers could watch him consummate his spiritual marriages. And to help him if his bride protested.

This has gone on in this sect for YEARS...and it took decades for anyone to act. Congrats to the State of Texas for nailing this sick SOB.

One thing is sure, He are no "Profet" just a fucking phedofile, who now, wil rot in hell for the rest of his life.. He used the FDL as a springboard to get what he wanted (Im not member of FDL just so that is pointed out!, member of the LDS, even tho I might not be as "strict" as many others are) and used his charisma, and position to do everything else than beeing a profet, but rater a rapist, and a child molester..

Now, he is behind bars, and would be that for the rest of his and would not molestar any other 5 old children, or rape girls at age 12... He is just truly a evil man, who deserve to get whatever he got in prison...

Its sad that we dosen't belive in the traditional way of hell, becouse he deserve to get to hell, when his time is up

Texas Supreme Court Challenges Incest Taboo
By Michael Collins
May 30, 2008

"The Texas Supreme Court just struck a blow at the foundation of civilized society - the incest taboo. On April 28, 2008, the Court overturned a Texas Department of Family and Protective Services finding that removed 130 children from a religious cult compound set up by a convicted sexual abuser. The court found that child protective authorities had not shown a sufficient danger to prohibit the children residing with their parents at the "Yearn for Zion" facility founded by Warren Jeffs, "prophet" and leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS). The Court argued that there were a number of options (counseling, etc.) available to protective services before separation could be justified."

See comments. Gave it back too!

40. FLDS split from LDS
Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). The FLDS Church emerged in the early twentieth century when its founding members left The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The split occurred largely because of the LDS Church's suspension of the practice of polygamy and its decision to excommunicate its members who would not discontinue the practice.
