Porn mogul James Mitchell convicted of murder

SAN RAFAEL -- Porn mogul James Mitchell was convicted of first-degree murder Tuesday for beating the mother of his child to death with a metal softball bat two years ago at her Novato house as neighbors watched in horror.

The Marin County Superior Court jury deliberated less than two days before reaching its verdict. It also convicted Mitchell, 29, of kidnapping, child endangerment, child abduction, domestic violence and stalking. He faces a potential sentence of life in prison.

Mitchell was convicted two years to the day that authorities arrested him. Just hours before being captured, he had stormed into the side yard of his ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Danielle Keller, and attacked her.

Witnesses said when he first hit Keller with the black softball bat, she had their daughter, Samantha - who was celebrating her first birthday - in her arms.

1. I wonder what the "back story" was here. Was she cheating on him? Maybe she gave him a V.D.?
I wonder if she was molesting his children?

3. He didn't tie her up and glue her labia shut, he killed her!
Clearly it's mental illness. Let's hope he gets the help he needs.

8. Evidently it runs in the family.
Your guess is as good as mine whether it's something organic in the brain, or if it was the father's abusiveness that made him violent.

I really find it hard to imagine this guy getting anything other than life.

5. Since when is someone who inherits a business but doesn't do anything a "mogul?"
THis guy wasn't just a creepy murderer, all he apparently did was inherit that porn empire from his murering father and sit around collecting checks. Blech. Human garbage.

6. I hope some competent relative
got custody of the child. Poor, poor baby.

Why do women pick men like this? Where are we going wrong in our "civilized" society, what are we teaching our daughters, that these are the choices they make?

9. The same reason some men pick psychotic women.
Some people do get "trapped" in abusive relationships, but many people who are in them seek them out. Maybe they feel like they deserve it, maybe they think they can "change" the other person.

Not saying that's necessarily the case here--this woman could have been with the guy before he showed off that he was a violent crazy asshole, then dumped him and he couldn't take it.

This, however, is an excellent example of why women need to be careful about stalkerish exes. A restraining order is worth exactly fuck-all. A Walther PPK handgun and the training to use it on the other hand might have saved her life.

10. Some of the male abusers can be
very charming until they finally get their 'prey,' ie marriage, or moving in with him....and then the abuse starts. And if the woman doesn't have the $$$ to escape, it is a 'trap.'

Restraining orders are crap. Gun for the purse and a rifle by the bedstand.

This particular dude grew up in a home where women were obviously nothing more than objects used for sex. They were simply treated as a 'meal ticket.'

7. Hopefully he'll die in prison after about 50 years of hopelessness.
That sounds about right.
