BART protest causes major delays in service
Source: SF Chronicle

BART has temporarily stopped service at the Civic Center and 16th Street stations in San Francisco because of a civil disturbance that is causing major delays on the system in both directions.

Muni said Metro trains are not stopping at the two stations as a result of a protest involving several dozen demonstrators angry about a fatal shooting by BART police on July 3.

The crowd gathered at the Civic Center Station at around 4:30 p.m. to protest the shooting of a man they say charged them with a knife....

The protesters were angered by the BART police shooting of Charles Blair Hill, a 45-year-old transient who allegedly threw a bottle at two officers and pulled a knife before one of the officers shot him to death.
