US holding Iraqi troops who mutinied

By Khaled Yacoub Oweis

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. forces have detained around 200 Iraqi paramilitary soldiers who refused to take part in a U.S. offensive
against the Sunni Muslim city of Falluja, their former comrades have said.

The U.S. military declined to confirm whether the men were being held. Senior officers play down the significance of such incidents
but, asked about reports of mutiny among Iraqi troops, have acknowledged a "command failure" took place during the Falluja
offensive.

Soldiers from the Baghdad-based 36th Security Brigade, part of the Iraqi Civil Defence Corps (ICDC), told Reuters on Friday that
last week U.S. commanders took them at night to Falluja, west of the capital, where U.S. forces were massing to crush a growing
insurgency.

"They told us to attack the city and we were astonished. How could an Iraqi fight an Iraqi like this? This meant that nothing had
changed from the Saddam Hussein days. We refused en masse," said Ali al-Shamari.

3. I have just watched a
clip from inside fallujah where the police forces who have been trained by Us army holding a kind of conference in the street surrounded by some people. Their public statement: We have been called upon by the tribe chefs, people to carry our duty to protect the city

WE pledge that we will protect the inhabitants of fellujah From any " harm"

It sounded very strange like twilight zone , the atmosphere were weird,

4. That's because the bush* cabal can't understand that some people
will not kill their own countrymen. I would be willing to bet money that they are hoping our own military wouldn't hesitate to kill American citizens if and when it comes to them calling off the election.

5. Wonder if they're being held at Abu Ghraib
With the 10,000 or so other prisoners. That would help recruitment and retention.

8. So, the US is holding 200 hostages? Why isn't this on the news?
They are not 'enemy combatants' they are not 'prisoners of war' so they musst be hostages.
