Conn. Governor Accepted Gift Certificates

Friday April 16, 2004 9:31 PM

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - (Republican, Bush buddy) Gov. John G. Rowland, already under investigation for receiving gifts from contractors, also spent thousands of dollars at a posh men's clothing store, much of it paid for with gift certificates from friends and employees, his lawyer acknowledged Friday.

The disclosure came a day after a legislative committee considering whether to recommend Rowland's impeachment issued a subpoena for documents relating to Rowland's purchases at The Stackpole, Moore & Tryon Co., a clothing shop in Hartford...

Federal investigators are also looking into Rowland's dealings with state contractors.

3. Rowland has already announced that his corruption was approved by God.
The governor of the strait-laced New England state of Connecticut has rejected calls for his resignation over corruption allegations, saying he is in direct contact with God.

Nothing says "republican" like corruption approved by God.

5. So when are the people of Connecticut going to oust Rowland?
Do they give a shit?

How these Democratic-leaning New England states manage to elect corrupt republican governors is something of a mystery to me.

9. Well, *I* for one, want him gone!
I believe he is down to a ten per cent job approval rating, and hopefully, he will be impeached. I am wondering how he got 'elected' in the first place.
