4. "pursuing a remedy"
"Air America Radio says it is pursuing a remedy with the Los Angeles station, KBLA/1580AM, where its programming was interrupted as well and hopes to be back on-the-air there soon."

10. Pursing what remedy--aside from having Liu's butt thrown in jail?
Edited on Fri Apr-16-04 09:03 AM by rocknation
If Liu was selling time he'd already sold to AirAm, it's open and shut. Double billing is criminal, isn't it?

19. The problem is that not only did the Liuser take them
off the air, he threw their employee out and changed the locks. They will have to gain peaceful entry into the station since it is not their property, in other words they can't break the door down.

So it may be a while. (Hopefully they're back on as I am writing this).

I guess what happened is they stopped payment when they found out Liu was double dipping in L.A. and he got pissed in return and showed his fanny. Blech.

8. Liberal Radio Wins Chicago Fight - CBS
A new radio network aimed at liberal audiences expects to be back on the air in Chicago on Friday, but its signal problems in Los Angeles — and a business dispute with a partner — have yet to be resolved.

Air America Radio's signal was pulled Wednesday from two stations in both cities by MultiCultural Radio Broadcasting Inc. following a disagreement over payments.

Air America said Thursday it had obtained a temporary restraining order against Multicultural "forcing them to put us back on the air." The order, which was filed in New York where Multicultural is based, does not apply to its Los Angeles station, however.

New York state Supreme Court Judge Marylin G. Diamond found Thursday that Air America had fully paid for airtime in Chicago and ordered Multicultural to begin broadcasting Air America's programming again.

Why would any moral person click on a Drudge website? Which generates revenue for him!

12. It's just my opinion
Edited on Fri Apr-16-04 09:33 AM by dArKeR
but in fact it does generate revenue but even more a busy website lets him claim his popularity (no one can say that 50% of the people visiting his sight disagree with him). But the busy website allows him to be called onto other Media Whore shows as an 'expert guest.'

If his website had 10 hits a day do you think even the Media Whore would invite him onto their shows?

It's sort of my boycott idealism which would work if everyone stuck together.

I think that it serves us as well to not go to Drudge, but if someone does and let's us know, we don't have the need to follow the link :D

being flamed for being the messenger is uncomfortable (to say the least), but I am grateful that you were willing to post what you had seen - it makes it possible for others to not go to Drudge and stay abreast of what the slimy thing has on his site :)

So hang around and remember to have a very thick skin and don't falter in your search for news.

Welcome to DU (by the way!) :hi:

17. They're leasing time--advertisers pay Air America.
That's how things are working to start. I understand they wish to ultimately purchase stations outright.

20. Because they don't have the capital to purchase stations outright
And they don't have the track record (read "audience") to justify stations paying THEM for their product.

Economically, they are a lot more like infomercials, but infomercials can't sell advertising to someone else. If Air America is more successful than people expect, they will read bigger profits since they will get more of the ad revenue.
