House GOP women defend party against ‘anti-women’ battle cry ahead of 2012 elections
By Associated Press, Updated: Wednesday, June 22, 3:57 AM

WASHINGTON — Women in Congress are waging an early skirmish in the 2012 election — for the votes of women.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a House member from Florida, fired the first shot last month by calling the Republican plans to overhaul Medicare and limit abortion “anti-women.”

Republican women fired back late Tuesday, streaming to the House floor one after another to raise their own profiles apart from the most visible women in the GOP, presidential candidate Michele Bachmann and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Rep. Kristi Noem says the GOP agenda is indeed pro-woman because it aims to lift some taxes and regulations on small businesses, help families thrive and the economy recover from recession.

1. Yeah, I can see it being pro-woman...
As long as you're rich, white and straight.

Oh, and male.

But, hey, at least all the rich, white and straight dudes will be able to afford keeping their women at home. :sarcasm:

5. girls, denial is so not a cute look
Edited on Wed Jun-22-11 05:43 AM by SemperEadem
you may enjoy lying to yourselves, but don't you dare take to the floor and lie to the women of American who are LIVING THIS HELL---none of you girls are.

when you begin addressing the way your party is attempting/has attempted/has been successful in redefining what rape is is when you can open your chicken-headed yaps and talk about exactly what it is that you're doing for American women. By virtue of the fact that you're defending this brutality means you're part of the problem, too.

women can be a woman's worst enemy sometimes.

7. Women in Congress - these are the women who are at the top
they are the few who have achieved success and most of them if not all have probably never worked a real job a day in their life.

These are women who are not experiencing the discrepancies in pay or the glass ceiling.

9. With "friends" like Palin and Bachmannn...
...women don't need enemies.

Notice too how the American media went gaga over nasty-tongued and/or flaky GOP women who are telegenic. In other words, it's not policy, it's sound bites and flirting with the camera.

16. No, because there are plenty of members of Congress...
...both male and female, who address serious policy issues and are duly covered, but do not attract the frenzy of media coverage that a winking Sarah Palin or Michele "Planned Parenthood is a criminal Enterprise" Bachmann or a Christine "I'm not a witch" O'Donnell do/did.

10. The women's response from the gop....
is what the party is saying about every issue in America. They do not have a response to the women's right to choose other than what gop "good old party" men have decided what they are going to do to women and their bodies. Women can not be barefooted, pregnant or second class.
