South Korean military apologizes for shooting at commercial passenger plane, claims confusion
Source: NY Daily News

South Korea's military apologized for shooting at a commercial plane carrying 119 passengers and crew as it landed at an airport west of Seoul.

"I sincerely apologize for causing the public concern over the incident," Col. Lee Bung-Woo, spokesman for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Monday.

The Asiana Airlines flight was preparing to land at Incheon International Airport, about 45 miles west of the capital, Friday when two marines stationed on an island near the North Korean border opened fire with high-powered assault rifles.

The soldiers were on patrol in dense fog and thought the plane was a North Korean jet, military officials said.

4. Suicide
The plane was known to be severly depressed due to a recent break-up with its long-time girlfriend.
Sadly, it shot itself three times before going down.
